Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Transportation Project Manager to manage and lead transportation projects. These projects range from small to medium highways and local roads to complex, multi-disciplinary freeway and interchange projects. The ideal candidate will mentor design staff, oversee plan development, and coordinate with engineers and designers to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
ResponsibilitiesManage and lead transportation projects, including highways, local roads, freeways, and interchange projects.Mentor design staff and oversee plan development, including horizontal and vertical geometry, 3D roadway modeling, quantities calculations, and utility coordination.Manage and coordinate engineers, designers, and staffing needs while tracking workloads and finances to ensure on-schedule, on-budget delivery.Create project schedules, budgets, and resource plans, monitor progress, and make adjustments as needed.Participate in project scoping, fee estimating, and proposal preparation, interviews, and serve as the client liaison.Build strong relationships with clients, resolve issues, and secure approvals to ensure successful project completion.Support marketing efforts by identifying opportunities, assisting with strategy development, and contributing to proposal and interview pursuits.Essential SkillsBachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months is preferred.Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is preferred.Minimum of 5 years of Project Management experience with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois Tollway, or local government agencies.Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a project team.Proven leadership, communication, collaboration, mentoring, and client liaison skills.Proficient in virtual collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Teams.Experienced in using Microsoft software suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Established relationships with Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois Tollway, or local government agencies.Working knowledge of roadway design software used to prepare engineering and design documents in MicroStation and Open Roads Designer (ORD).Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in the development of alternative delivery projects.Work Environment
The position offers a hybrid work schedule with three days remote and two days in the office.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62.50 - $72.12/hr.
