Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following: + Experience in bridge maintenance and repair, as well as, bridge maintenance equipment operation + Experience in record keeping, such as tracking employee and equipment time and recording quantities of materials used + Experience in planning work and supervising a bridge crew + Experience in Work Zone Safety and NCDOT Workplace Safety Policy and Practices + Experience inspecting bridges for minor maintenance needs Additional Expectations: Install and maintain erosion control devices. Must be able to climb, bend, and transverse steep and uneven terrain. Position will be exposed to extreme conditions such as snow and ice, dust, extreme temps, high volumes of traffic, and heavy construction equipment. Must create a positive work environment with a team approach and be able to communicate effectively. Position will be subject to responding to emergency situations after normal work hours and on weekends. Either possession of a current Commercial Driver’s License on the date of hire, OR the North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License must be obtained through completion of on-the-job training and all requirements mandated by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (Federal Registry 49 CFR 383) within 360 days of the date of hire. The selected candidate must be able to legally operate CDL required equipment/trucks with both manual and automatic transmissions at the time of hire or within 360 days of hire date. Safety toe footwear is needed for this position.
