Job Description
AECOM is seeking an experienced Transportation Technology Planner in Chicago, Ill. that can support our project teams and clients in delivering systems engineering based planning services for multi-modal projects where advanced transportation technologies are being considered.
The successful candidate will possess strong verbal and written communications skills along with a technical understanding of how to elicit user needs from stakeholders and how transportation technologies may be applied to address those needs. This position will support various projects and teams while also supporting broader business goals in developing proposals, presentations, or similar materials.
The general technical duties of this position are defined as follows:
Supports and may lead certain aspects of the early phase services as part of the systems engineering process.Supports development of technology focused strategic plans, deployment plans, stakeholder / user needs gathering, outreach, and concepts of operations.Assists with updates and maintenance of previously completed comprehensive plans for transportation technologies.Identifies community problems, issues and opportunities in particular neighborhoods that could be mitigated through better community planning.May act as a liaison between community groups, government agencies, vendors and agency officials in developing transportation technology plans.Conducts extensive research in specific or general project areas.Writes and presents formal and technical reports, working papers, correspondence, proposals, and presentations.Develops long range transportation technology plans for agencies with common goals or visions.Develops strategies for how transportation technology can be leveraged to improve safety and mobility while also addressing other societal needs such as equitable access to transportation modes, sustainability, or reliability.Evaluates adequacy of existing agency systems, facilities, and operational practices in meeting both current and projected needs.Recommends priorities, schedules and funding sources to implement projects.Other similar related tasks as assigned to support other projects and business needs.

BA/BS + 2 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationPreferred Requirements:
Experience working on projects with complex transportation technology systems being developed including intelligent transportation systems, connected vehicles, automated vehicles, and performance metrics.Technical understanding of how transportation technology landscape across all modes of surface transportation travel is changing the way in which traveler and agency needs can be addressed.General understanding of how clients plan, design, construct, integrate, operate, and maintain transportation technology deployments.Additional InformationAdditional Information:
