Transportation/Traffic Designer – Analysis | Hybrid | New York, NY | Newark, NJ
VHB is seeking a Transportation/Traffic Engineer/Designer with strong Vissim modeling capabilities and approximately 3 to 5 years of experience to join our Mobility group. VHB’s Mobility group in NYC is a leader in the industry, working on a slate of interesting and dynamic transportation and mobility solutions. Responsibilities
Work within a team of professionals in developing mobility and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projectsAssist Senior Engineers with a variety of transportation/traffic projectsParticipate in performing traffic impact studiesAssist in developing and calibrating traffic microsimulation models to evaluate multiple scenarios, debug models to generate realistic results, explain the results of microsimulation models to clients in an accessible manner, and have the ability to independently accomplish these tasks with minimal oversightDevelop, analyze, and evaluate traffic improvementsResearch and interpret transportation data, community statistics and demographics to assess the mobility needs of a community Prepare conceptual designs for roadways, intersections, pedestrian and bicycle paths, etc. designPrepare and review technical memoranda and reportsPrepare and deliver analysis findings, concerns, and recommendations in a collaborative fashionSkills & Abilities:
A strong background in traffic engineering, traffic modeling and task managementSoftware skills with Vissim modeling, HCS and SynchroExcellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skillsSelf-motivated with strong attention to detailStrong writing skills for proposals, technical reports, and memorandaThe ability to balance multiple concurrent assignments Thrives working in a team environmentQualifications:
3-5 years of professional transportation/traffic engineering/design experience requiredBachelor’s degree in civil engineering, transportation or related field of study requiredMaster’s degree a plus Engineer In Training certification preferredProficiency in Vissim modeling and Synchro requiredProficiency in HCS preferredOur best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $86,000-105,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
