ABOUT THE POSITION

Transportation/Traffic Engineer - Design | Hybrid

 

VHB is seeking a strong Transportation/Traffic Engineer with solid design experience to join our vibrant and growing transportation consulting practice in Connecticut. There is an option for someone to work from another VHB office to support CT projects, if meeting all qualifications.

 

Responsibilities:

Develop, analyze and evaluate traffic improvements including traffic signals and roundaboutsDevelop traffic and transportation planning, safety, and engineering solutions for multimodal transportation projectsConduct safety engineering analysis, including design and operational focused analysisDesign traffic control devicesDesign work zone traffic controlDevelop roadway and intersection designUse guidance within the MUTCD to prepare and oversee traffic signal warrant analysesAttend and lead meetings with transportation agencies and private developersPrepare and participate in presentations to the client team Prepare and review technical memoranda and reports

Skills & Abilities:

A strong background in traffic engineering and task managementExcellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skillsStrong writing skills for proposals, technical reports and memorandaThe ability to balance multiple concurrent assignmentsMicroStation and/or AutoCAD, Open Roads and/or Civil3D, Vissim modeling capabilities, HCS and Synchro skills a plusFinal Design Plan Development

Qualifications:

5-8 years of transportation/traffic design engineering experience required, depending on level of educationBachelor’s degree in civil engineering requiredMaster’s degree a plus (master’s degree may substitute for 1 year of experience)Professional Engineer (PE) license expected (or the ability to obtain registration within six months)PTOE (Professional Traffic Operations Engineer) certification a plus
