Trauma Coordinator FT
Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: An RN, who, with minimal supervision, concurrently reviews medical records and available databases, assists and coordinates data collection processes, exhibits proficiency in data management, demonstrates knowledge of age specific processes of care, and assists with regulatory compliance. Performs concurrent review and chart studies while maintaining databases for trauma patients and participates in the quality improvement program to evaluate care for trauma patients. Provides leadership and consultative services for performance improvement activities, and assists with compliance activities for all regulatory agencies. Undertakes activities to educate staff and/or the community regarding prevention of trauma. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Minimum of 2 years nursing experience preferably in critical care. 2. Basic computer literacy with strong verbal and writing skills. 3. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical, and trauma terminology. 4. Completion of an injury scaling course (ATS Trauma Registry, AAA Injury Scaling and/or equivalent) approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) within 12 months from hire or as class availability permits. Will obtain certification within 2 years of hire. 5. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer. EDUCATION / LICENSURE: 1. Diploma, Associates in Nursing required, Bachelors preferred 2. Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Texas, or part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the permanent one. 3. RN will have BLS upon hire (and maintain through employment) and be certified and maintain certification in ACLS, TNCC and PALS and/or ENPC within 12 months of hire. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider’s Program.
