JFK Memorial Hospital has provided medical care to residents in the Coachella Valley since 1966. A group of physicians, including Dr. Reynaldo Carreon, founded the hospital and today one of JFK’s cross streets is named in his honor.

Originally called Indio Community Hospital, JFK has grown to a 145-bed acute-care hospital that is part of Tenet Healthcare California. It offers a variety of services, including:

GENERAL DUTIES:


The Injury Prevention/Outreach Coordinator is responsible for injury prevention activities and programs for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors across the continuum of care. This position collaborates with the professional community and develops relationships with other agencies and organizations with the goal of enhancing trauma-related care and relations of those in the community/region. This position is also responsible for assisting with the delivery of trauma-related education and training to healthcare providers (i.e., nurses, EMS providers, other healthcare providers) and intended target audiences. The Injury Prevention/Outreach Coordinator demonstrates clinical nursing competency and acts as a clinical resource, functioning as a role model for patient care and assists in staff development and community development. The position works collaboratively with the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director to ensure the Trauma Center’s verification and designation requirements are met for outreach, education, and injury prevention. Trauma center public relations are inherent in this role.

Position Qualifications:

Required:

1. Licensure/ Certification/ Registration
a. Current California RN license
Current American Heart Association (BLS)BLS, ACLS, PALS

b. Trauma Nursing Core Course( TNCC) within 6 months of hire

c. Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator Course within 6 months of hire.

Education: Bachelor's Degree required

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of trauma nursing experience or equivalent.

1. Ability to create and make data presentations to groups with varied needs.
2. Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Windows, Power Point, Excel
3. Experience in public speaking, demonstrates excellence in verbal and written communications
4. Skills Knowledge: Ability to think proactively; act creatively, critical-thinking, excellent interpersonal skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to work as part of multiple teams and in diverse cultural community groups.

Preferred
1. Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) Certification
2. Master’s Degree
3. Knowledge of trauma statistical reports, peer review performance improvement, and epidemiology.

Schedule: 3 shifts weekly

Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm

Pay range: $116,480 - $187,200

*Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience
