Trauma Program Manager

UPMC Altoona is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as our Trauma Program Manager!  If you are an RN with at least 5 years of clinical nursing experience (preferably in a trauma setting) and are looking for a collaborative role, this may be a great fit for you!

 As the Trauma Program Manager, you will:

Work collaboratively with the Director to ensure the utility and effectiveness of the trauma program.  Oversee the day-to-day operations of the trauma program. Monitor the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF) Standards for the Trauma Center Accreditation or applicable equivalent in state where the facility is located. Actively participate in the clinical care of the trauma patients.

Responsibilities:

Coordinates with the Trauma Program Medical Director and Administrator to ensure quality and consistency. Responsible for strategic planning, including clinical, educational, and research activities. Assesses, implements, and evaluates department programs to support the trauma program’s plans. Ensures compliance with Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF) standards. Mentors nurses on patient care, process improvement, and PTSF requirements. Provides leadership and manages resources for the trauma program’s growth and development. Creates a compassionate patient-focused experience by building healthy relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. Oversees data flow for quality issues and directs them to appropriate personnel. Coordinates organizational preparation for the PTSF survey and application process. Participates in scholarly activities, including writing for publication and presenting at conferences. Manages staff, fiscal, and physical resources, and controls departmental expenses. Handles staff recruitment, orientation, coaching, training, scheduling, evaluation, and discipline. Participates in developing nursing policies related to trauma patient care. Develops and administers policies to ensure efficient and effective patient care and services. Establishes effective work relationships with the healthcare team to coordinate optimal trauma patient care. Serves on related committees at various levels upon request. Collaborates with the Trauma Medical Director and Administrator to develop and maintain quality indicators for the trauma program. Oversees performance improvement documentation, including patient performance files, mortality and morbidity, and practice guidelines. Integrates trauma quality improvement with the hospital quality program. Reviews PTSF quarterly reports and identifies trends. Maintains credentialing data on trauma practitioners. Monitors medical records and data collection. Ensures the trauma program meets hospital quality assurance standards.
