Trauma Registrar

Position Details:

Location: Tampa, St Joseph's HospitalStatus: Full timeShift: 7:00am - 3:30pm Days: Monday through Friday

 

This Trauma Registrar Opportunity is a full-time position requiring on-site work in Tampa, FL (with the potential to have 1 remote day following training). This position requires data entry and is not patient facing/ does not have any direct patient interaction. 

Responsibilities:

Evaluates patient eligibility for Trauma Registry per ACS guidelines and National Trauma Data Standards.Collects and codes demographic, clinical, and follow-up data into the trauma registry database.Attends and updates monthly Trauma Systems and Operations Committee and Peer Review meetings.Supports quality trauma data abstraction for local, state, and national use.Collaborates with trauma team members and patients for registry functions.Maintains registry at 80% completion within 60 days of patient discharge.Participates in quality assurance, data validation, and improvement activities.Resolves routine coding issues; seeks help from Trauma Program leadership or vendor as needed.Identifies injury patterns to aid in prevention and process improvement.Reports data in Excel and PowerPoint formats for internal and external use.Assists with trauma site survey preparations and presentations.Provides administrative support at Trauma Conferences.Performs additional trauma registry duties as required.

Education

Required - High School or EquivalentPreferred - Bachelors - Related Field

 

Experience

Required: 1 year in healthcare or 1 year as a trauma registrar.Preferred: 2 years in healthcare.Proficiency with Excel, web browsers, email, and Cerner.Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and relevant continuing education.Regularly update skills, maintain credentials, and stay current with coding rules and guidelines.
