Geisinger’s Northeast Pennsylvania Trauma department is seeking BE/BC Critical Care Trauma Surgeons to join their state verified Level I Trauma Center located in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania.
This is an outstanding opportunity for another member to join our team in providing care to patients in all three facets of Acute Care Surgery.
In addition to providing coverage of the trauma service and surgical critical care, there is an active emergency general surgery service, with dedicated OR timeOur Trauma dept includes 7 Critical Care Trauma Surgeons and a team of Physician Assistants assisting with the care of the patients in both the inpatient setting, and in the trauma/ emergency general surgery clinicThe trauma program is supported by a surgical residency programAdditional PI staff, outreach, and registry staff who facilitate patient care Employed position with Geisinger Opportunity to participate in clinical research and teach residentsIn addition to clinical responsibilities, the candidate will have the option to conduct clinical research and be involved in resident and medical student education with the potential for an academic appointment at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine commensurate with your experience. Position DetailsThey have expertise in the management of the critically ill and postoperative patient, particularly the trauma victim, and specialize in critical care medicine diagnoses and treat and support patients with multiple organ dysfunction. This specialist may have administrative responsibilities for intensive care units and may also facilitate and coordinate patient care among the primary physician, the critical care staff and other specialists.
Interviews patients to obtain information such as symptoms, medical histories, and family histories. Performs and/or interprets diagnostic tests as needed.Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness. May prescribe or administer medications. Prepares, maintains, and reviews records that include patients' histories, examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes.
