**Travel Inside Machinist** **Job Description** We are seeking an experienced Inside Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience as an Inside-Shop Machinist, with proficiency in operating both manual and numerical controlled machines. The machinist will work with various types of equipment and controllers, and must be able to comprehend complex mechanical drawings and blueprints. **Responsibilities** + Operate manual and/or NC machines such as lathes, mills, horizontal and vertical machining centers, and EDMs. + Work with controllers such as Fanuc, Siemens, Acramatic, and Cincinnati-Milacron. + Utilize precision measuring instruments including outside/inside micrometers, depth mics, and verniers. + Perform threading and manage various measuring/gauging requirements. + Execute drilling and tapping processes. + Utilize carbide machining processes. + Interpret and work from complex mechanical drawings and blueprints. **Essential Skills** + Minimum of two years of experience as an Inside-Shop Machinist. + Safety-oriented mindset. + Familiarity with numerical controlled processes, manual data input, tooling offsets, and conversation controllers. + Strong math skills. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Machinist or Tool & Die Apprenticeship. + Experience on Horizontal Boring Mills with specific travel ranges (X - 500”, Y - 250”, Z - 50” and W - 65”) and turn tables with a load capacity of 100 tons. **Why Work Here?** Join the largest shipyard in the US, and the only company in the world that builds Nuclear Powered Aircraft Carriers and Submarines. The environment can be very hot and muggy during the summer and cool during the winter. Work will take place on Navy vessels or in a shop environment. Candidates must be able to work any shift: 1st shift (7am-3:30pm), 2nd shift (3:30-11pm), or 3rd shift (11pm-7am). **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract position based out of Newport News, Virginia. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $37.50 - $37.50/hr.
