Job Description A client is looking for a Meraki Network Engineer to do hands on work and travel to replace old hardware. This role needs to be a very reliable and dependable person since they are traveling on their own and are working independently. They will be a part of creating this travel tech program for the team. They will also create documentation when they are not traveling. Additionally, they will participate in other Network Engineering projects when not traveling. Travel is 2 trips a month and each trip is 3-4 days long. travel includes trips all over the country and includes planes, rental car and hotel stays. Skills and Requirements Be willing to travel to several states across the United States country. o Travel will be frequent at approximately 50% of time. o Travel might be by car and/or airplane. o Travel may include overnight stays in hotel accommodations. Must have experience with Meraki equipment and Meraki dashboard. o Specifically experience with Meraki switches and Meraki WAPs (Access Points). o Experience with registering new devices in Meraki dashboard. o Experience with configuring and using templates in Meraki dashboard.   - Must know how to create and use templates in Meraki dashboard. Must have experience with Cisco switches. o Must know how to view configuration and other various CLI commands for Cisco IOS or IOS-NX switches. o Should be comfortable with taking an existing Cisco switch configuration and using that to configure a Meraki switch from Meraki dashboard. o Familiar with VLANs and SVIs (Switch virtual interface). Should have knowledge and experience with Cisco/Meraki wireless. o Local mode vs Flex Connect mode for wireless APs. o Familiar with CAPWAP protocol. o Familiar with POE standards for WAPs (Access Points). Experience and knowledge of network cabling to include: o CAT5/CAT6/CAT6E ethernet cables. o Single mode and multimode fibers.   -Fiber connector types: LC, ST, SC   -How to troubleshoot layer 1 and light level issues in the field. o Experience with SFP and QSFP transceivers. o Console serial cables and standards.   -Straight-through vs crossover   -Baud rate, stop bits, etc. Experience and understanding of power sources for network equipment. o Experience with rack UPS and PDUs. o Knowledge of NEMA 5-15, NEMA 5-20, and NEMA L6-30 twist-lock. Understanding and experience with network troubleshooting: o Ping, Traceroute o Layer 1 to layer 3 issues. o Able to view and validate from MAC Address table. o Able to view and validate from ARP table. o Able to view and validate routing table. o Knowledge and experience troubleshooting DHCP issues. Experience creating How To documents o Outline the step by step process to switch and configure equipment Experience managing your own travel plans including: o Coordinating with the destination o Arranging flights, hotel and car rental o Submitting expense reports in a timely manner Experience with configuring and troubleshooting BGP (Border Gateway Protocol).  Experience with Cisco routers (ASR, ISR, Catalyst 8300 series, etc.)  Experience with Palo Alto next-generation firewalls and Panorama management of Palo firewalls.  Experience with Visio and creating detailed network diagrams.  Experience and knowledge of SDWAN.  Experience with Infoblox DNS and BloxOne SaaS.  Experience with PKI, certificates, and DIGI cert. Compensation: $40/hr to $60/hr Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
