Travel Neuro Surgical Med Surg RN - Nights - Newburgh, IN **AUTO OFFER** NO LOCAL CANIDATES (40 MILE RADIUS RULE) Gross Weekly Pay - $3,318 wk./48 hrs. OR $2,506 wk./36 hrs. Contract Length: 13 weeks Start: 12/30 or 1/13 - Bi-weekly orientation Guaranteed Hours: 36 (will accept 48 upon request) Shift Requirement: 12hr Nights 6:30-7 Float Requirement: First to float within skillset. Deaconess Newburgh (IN) campus (8 miles apart) & potential to float to Deaconess Midtown (IN – 11 miles). 2 HR notice given for cross campus float. Mid-shift float within same campus. Cross campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible. On Call/Call Back Requirement: N/A Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Three weekends out of every six week schedule. Every other holiday. Required Certs to be attached upon submittal: Must have current active compact license. AHA BLS, AHA ACLS and NIHSS. Minimum Experience REQUIRED: Two years of strong Med/Surg, 1 travel assignment, trauma level II experience. Charting Experience: Recent EPIC experience required (will be required to do a checkoff class) Patient Population: Neuro and Neuro-Surgical patients – CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op cranis, cerebral angiogram. General medical and psych. Skillset: NIHSS/dysphagia screen/strong Neuro assessments, basic tele interpretation, strict I’s & O’s/straight cath/Foleys, intitate/titrate heparin gtts., blood/blood product administration/venipuncture/blood cultures, NG tubes, indwelling drain management, stable gtts. (i.e. Protonix, Lasic, etc.). Must have strong assessment and critical thinking skills! Unit Information: 37 beds. Ratio: Days 1:5-6; NOCs 1:5-7; CN takes partial patient assignment. The nurse demonstrates ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner with supervision. The nurse demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care. Consistently performs according to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care. Responsibilities: + Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. + Performs focused interview to identify specific patients needs. + Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient’s condition. + Collects, analyzes, and interprets data and information from health care members and documents actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses. + Documents the patient’s plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions. + Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient care requirements. + Monitors consistency between patient plan of care and actions of medical staff. + Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard. + Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment. + Initiates and evaluates patient and/or family education. + Revises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in medical plan of care, and effective/ineffective nursing interventions. + Documents patient’s response to nursing and other interventions. + Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs of an assigned unit/floor including establishing priorities. + Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment. + Participates in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications with the chosen facility. + Supports professional practice by observing the following: Uses knowledge and practices in accordance with 1) the Nurse Practice Act; 2) Standards of Nursing Practice; 3) Standards of Patient Care; 4) The Joint Commission, state and local laws; 5) Patient’s Bill of Rights; and 6) Amergis Healthcare Staffing, nursing and client hospital policies. + Other duties as assigned. Requirements: + Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices. + Full command of the English language, both verbal and written. + Current Health Certificate (per facility contract or state regulation). + Current PPD or Chest X-Ray. + One year prior professional nursing experience preferred. + Current BLS card. + Successful completion of testing process.
