Travel Surgical Trauma ICU RN- Nights – Evansville, IN **AUTO OFFER**
Gross Weekly Pay – $3,150 wk./48 hrs.
$2,362 wk./36 hrs.
NO LOCAL CANIDATES (40 MILE RADIUS RULE)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start: 12/30 or 1/13 – Bi-weekly orientation
Guaranteed Hours: 36 (will accept 48 upon request)
Shift Requirement: 12hr Nights 6:30pm
Float Requirement: First to float within skillset. Deaconess Newburgh (IN) campus (8 miles apart) & potential to float to Deaconess Midtown (IN – 11 miles). 2 HR notice given for cross campus float. Mid-shift float within same campus. Cross campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible.
On Call/Call Back Requirement: N/A
Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Three weekends out of every six week schedule. Every other holiday.
Required Certs to be attached upon submittal: Must have current active compact license. AHA BLS, AHA ACLS and NIHSS.
Minimum Experience REQUIRED: 3 years as RN, 1 full year ICU/Trauma ICU, 1 travel assignment, trauma level II experience.
Charting Experience: Recent EPIC experience required (will be required to do a checkoff class)
Patient Population:
Trauma patients: Subarachnoid/Subdural Hemorrhages, Multi Trauma, MVC, GSW/Stabbings, Falls
Surgical: Carotid Endarterectomy, Carotid stents, Vascular (Fem Pop Bypass), AAA (Endo & Open), Abdominal (open bellies).
Medical: PE, DVT, Respiratory Failure, Sepsis, Seizure
Unit takes pediatric patients (all ages) but those patients are assigned to perm staff.
Skillset:
REQUIRED: Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation (travelers are required to pass a tele test), ETT/vent management (RT available), Initiate/titrate (sedatives, paralytics, cardiac drips, vasoactive, insulin, etc.), NIHSS/dysphagia screen/strong neuro assessment skills, ICP monitoring, sepsis protocols/care, post ROSC therapeutic hypothermia protocol.
Hard worker, resilient and manages change well, social candidates. Must have strong assessment and critical thinking skills!
PREFERRED: CRRT, tPa administration/assessments, massive transfusion (Belmont).
Unit Information: 22 beds. Ratio: Days 1:2-3; NOCs 1:2-3; Third patient is often a transfer. Charge nurse typically does not take patients.
Unit Strengths: Low turnover, staff love precepting/educational unit. Manager has been with the facility for 23 years and in unit leadership for 10, has cultivated excellent teamwork on the unit with a welcoming culture.
Scrub Colors: Navy blue scrubs

GSA hours are not guaranteed the week of Orientation. Traveler is guaranteed set hours per week, except during holidays where unit is closed

The Critical Care Registered Nurse assumes responsibilityand accountability for the application of the nursing process and the deliveryof patient care in a variety of critical care settings. Consistently performsaccording to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care andassisting others in the management of patient care. Responsibilities includemonitoring, assessment, vital sign monitoring, ventilator management,medication administration, intravenous insertion and infusion, central linecare, catheters, and maintenance of a running record of the patient’s status.The Critical Care RN must be prepared at all times to perform cardiopulmonaryresuscitation and other lifesaving measures for the patients in their care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement andevaluate patient care Assesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic andpsychosocial changes in the patient’s condition Collects, documents, analyzes, and interprets data and otherinformation from healthcare team members Communicates nursing interventions, expected outcomes andthe time frames for expected completion to other members of the hospital healthcare team Functions as a resource to the health care team members inplanning for patient’s discharge Documents the patient’s plan of care using identifiednursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursinginterventions Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment Initiates and evaluates patient and/or family education Compares expected and actual outcomes of care and identifiesdeviation from the plan of care Adheres to facility/client policies, procedures andprotocols at all times Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
