Travel Telemetry RN - 12hr Nights - Henderson, KY **AUTO OFFER** NO LOCAL CANIDATES (40 MILE RADIUS RULE) $3,318 wk./48 hrs. OR $2,506 wk./36 hrs. Contract Length: 13 weeks Start: 1/13 or 1/27 -- Bi weekly orientation Guaranteed Hours: 36 (will accept 48 upon request) Shift Requirement: 12hr Nights 6:30p-7a CST Float Requirement: First to float within skillset. Campuses are 8 miles apart & potential to float to campus 11 miles away. 2 HR notice given for cross campus float. Mid-shift float within same campus. Cross campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible. On Call/Call Back Requirement: N/A Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every third weekend. Every other holiday. Required Certs to be attached upon submittal: Must have current active compact license. AHA BLS, AHA ACLS and NIHSS. Minimum Experience REQUIRED: Three years as RN - including one solid year of telemetry experience and one successful travel assignment. Stepdown experience is a plus, but not required, and the candidate must be agreeable to tele patient assignments. Charting Experience: Recent EPIC experience required (will be required to do a checkoff class) Patient Population: Telemetry patient population, including stable drips. Sepsis, CHF, COPD, DKA, cirrhosis, dementia. Surgical – urology, abdominal, ortho. Skillset: Required: Tele interpretation, initiate/maintain stable heparin, Lasix, protonix, and cardiac drips (i.e., Cardizem). Preferred: PIV insertion, chest tube/indwelling drain management, CBI, blood product administration, continuous BiPap, drain management, Neutropenic precautions. Must have strong assessment and critical thinking skills, while being a hard worker who is resilient, manages changes well, and is an excellent team player. Unit Information: Tele – 15 beds; Ratio Days: 1:5-6, NOCs 1:6. CN rarely takes patients on days, but takes an assignment on NOC shift. Unit Strengths: Excellent retention and experience on unit. Smaller facility with great teamwork and a seasoned nursing staff. As a professional practitioner, the RN - Telemetry assumes the responsibility and accountability for delivery of patient care of telemetry patients. The RN – Telemetry demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner, with supervision. The RN - Telemetry exhibits critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care, and consistently performs according to nursing standards while remaining accountable for providing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care on telemetry unit + Performs focused interview to identify specific patient needs + Assesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient’s condition + Monitors EKG output and keeps doctors informed of any changes + Records vital signs, including oxygen levels, blood pressure, breathing patterns, etc. + Monitors patient progress and updates patient medical records as needed + Responds to patients experiencing cardiac pain + Performs various diagnostic tests + Manages and administers medication + Monitors and uses the electrocardiogram, EKG, or ECG + Educates patients on cardiac health and communicates with patient’s family when applicable + Administers tests, analyzes lab results, and reports them to the physician + Documents the patient’s plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions + Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient care requirements + Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard + Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment + Revises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in medical plan of care, effective/ineffective nursing interventions + Documents patient’s response to nursing and other interventions + Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs of an assigned unit/floor including established priorities + Monitors safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment Minimum Requirements: + Current Registered Nurse license for the state in which the nurse practices + One year experience in Telemetry Preferred + Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice + Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable + Current CPR if applicable + TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable + Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) + Must meet all federal, state and local requirements + Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site + Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements + Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required + Computer proficiency required + Must be at least 18 years of age Benefits At Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits: + Competitive pay & weekly paychecks + Health, dental, vision, and life insurance + 401(k) savings plan + Awards and recognition programs *Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.
