Traveling Data Center Technician IV
Logistics: Must live within daily commuting distance from the Data Center locations in Atlanta (Lithia Springs & Fayetteville) If they aren’t willing to commute to these locations 5 days a week, they probably won’t be a fit. Travel requirements: Must be open to traveling up to 80% of the time so 4 out of 5 weeks. When they aren’t traveling, they will be onsite in ATL hence the above. They could go week stretches of 3-5 weeks and NOT travel so commuting to ATL locations daily. Travel details: We will make all flight, rental car, and hotel reservations while traveling. They will also receive per diem while traveling. The weeks they aren’t traveling there will be no per diem or travel expenses offered. Schedule: This team will be working M-F 10-hour days so will be pulling 50/hr weeks most every week whether they are traveling or not. Pay: $50/hour L4 Techs, $65/hr for the Tech Lead Timeline: Looking to interview these folks in the next week and start the onboarding process to start onsite the end of February/first of March. Difference for lead from Techs: Experience leading/managing a team of DC Techs doing deployment and break/fix work in an enterprise data center. Minimum 2-3 years in a lead role. Length of project: This will be an ongoing/long term team. We know traveling takes its toll on folks so we will ask for a year commitment from a traveling standpoint at minimum then can explore making them based out of ATL full time if the prefer. These folks will also have the long-term possibility to apply directly and accept a full time role with our client. Top Skills (Required) + Minimum 8 Years of true enterprise Data Center experience. + Experience with deployment, decommissioning, and troubleshooting of devices. + GPU Deployment experience (Huge nice to have, will stack rank candidates based on GPU experience) Summary: Remove network cables as part of a datacenter decommission Run/Label/Stage Power & Networking Cables DBD removal only (does not perform any scanning) Follows procedures for preparing, installing, performing diagnostics,troubleshooting, replacing, and/or decommissioning equipment with guidance from Datacenter Technician Leads Prepares, stages, sets up, and performs basic startups and shutdowns for hardware following written instructions, checklists, guides, standard procedures, and with guidance from Datacenter Technician Leads Physical audits of datacenter assets Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent Required: Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components. Required: Basic understanding of how to use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) Required: Need to be open to 75% travel The main function of a Data Center Technician IV is to monitor software to process business, scientific, engineering, and other data according to operating instructions. Job Responsibilities: • Monitor the system for equipment failure or errors in performance • Respond to program error messages by finding and correcting problems or terminating the program • Help programmers and systems analysts test and debug new programs • Operate spreadsheet programs and other types of software to load and manipulate data and to produce reports Qualifications: • Associate\'s degree in computer programming or equivalent training preferred • 5+ years of DC experience required • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills • Basic ability to work independently and manage one’s time Why is this team being built? Our client's top priority and highest visibility project across the country Our client is taking on GPU deployments across the country to continue to implement AI Servers and increase their AI capabilities for their customers that use Azure Work Environment Data center environment with limited oversight from FTE's PPE is required and will be provided from us - Composite-toed boots (TEK reimburses up to $100) - High-vis vest - Safety glasses - Cut-resistant gloves - Ear protection Some of these sites are still under construction and require additional PPE. - Hard hat Additional Skills & Qualifications Candidates must be open to all ATL sites for their home base, furthest north Lithia Springs, furthest south Fayetteville. With traveling they must be within reasonable driving distance to the ATL airport as well. Techs will be travelling to other DC sites across the country 75% of the timewhen the team is ramped up. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
