The Treasury Analyst will be responsible for helping to monitor and analyze the company's daily cash position to ensure sufficient liquidity for cash commitments. This role involves coordinating and optimizing short-term borrowing or investments, concentrating cash from secondary bank accounts, and assisting in daily cash management duties. The Treasury Analyst will also recommend and implement solutions to strengthen operational controls and incorporate best practices. This position will be based in our Corporate Headquarters in Rutland, VT and will report to the company’s Treasury Manager. The Treasury Analyst is part of the company’s Finance and Accounting team and is expected to work collaboratively with key personnel, including at times various members of the Casella leadership team. The position will also gain exposure to other finance and accounting related responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities Monitors and analyzes the company's daily cash position to ensure sufficient liquidity for all cash commitments, identifying any discrepancies and taking corrective actions as needed.Coordinates with the Treasury Manager and finance team as appropriate aiming to optimizes short-term borrowing or investments by evaluating market conditions, interest rates, and investment opportunities to maximize returns and minimize costs.Assists in the execution of daily cash management duties, including processing wire transfers, ACH payments, and other cash transactions accurately and efficiently.Concentrates cash from all secondary bank accounts when necessary, ensuring timely and accurate transfers to the primary operating account to maintain optimal cash levels.Recommends and implements solutions to strengthen operational controls and incorporate best practices, enhancing the efficiency and security of treasury operations.Prepares periodic cash flow forecasts and reports, providing detailed analysis and insights to support strategic financial planning and decision-making.Assists in maintaining and managing relationships with banks and financial institutions, negotiating favorable terms and conditions, and ensuring the company’s banking needs are met effectively, while optimizing costs.Ensures compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures, conducting regular reviews and audits to identify and mitigate risks.Supports the month-end and year-end closing processes by reconciling cash accounts, preparing necessary documentation, and collaborating with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting.Assists in the development and implementation of treasury policies and procedures, ensuring they align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.Conducts select financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, evaluating the financial impact of various initiatives and providing recommendations to senior management.Participates in special projects and initiatives as required, contributing to the continuous process improvement of treasury operations and overall financial performance.Supports other various treasury, accounting, and finance related initiatives and responsibilities.Participates in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the organization’s products, sales, and services, and performs other applicable duties necessary to help drive the organizations vision and to fulfill its mission, in line with its core values.Ensures compliance with all organization, state and federal policies, regulations, and laws regarding employment and employee safety.Career Path Definitions & Distinctions
Level 1:
Demonstrates the ability to assist in daily cash management activities, including monitoring cash balances and preparing cash flow forecasts. Can competently perform bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial records and supports the preparation of treasury reports and analysis for management. Effectively executes wire transfers, EFTs, and other payment transactions while maintaining and updating bank account documentation and records. Demonstrates proper excel skills, has a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field and 0-2 years of relevant experience in treasury or finance.
Level 2:
Manages daily cash positioning and forecasting to ensure adequate liquidity. Competently performs and reconciles complex wire transfers, EFTs, and conducts financial analysis to support investment and funding decisions. Prepares detailed treasury reports and presents findings to management. Maintains and updates comprehensive bank account documentation, including balances and transaction details, and assists in the development and implementation of treasury policies and procedures. Demonstrates excellent excel skills and has a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field and 2-4 years of relevant experience in treasury or finance.
Senior Level:
Assists in the development of funding and investment strategies for corporate assets. Competently performs, records, and reconciles wire transfers and EFTs in support of the organization's treasury strategy, ensuring that appropriate liquid funds are available to meet organizational needs. Maintains current bank account documentation, including balances and transaction details. Conducts build versus buy analyses, monitors the company's cost of capital and cash flow, and reporting analysis results to higher-level management while making recommendations. Demonstrates the ability to handle complex issues and problems, only referring the most complex issues to higher-level staff. This role may also involve acting as a lead or first-level supervisor and typically requires a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, with 4-6 years of relevant experience in treasury or finance. Comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter and the ability to perform work under minimal supervision are essential.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and demonstrates effective planning and priority-setting skills. They must be well-organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with good critical thinking and analytical abilities. Additionally, the candidate should have the ability to quickly understand complex transactions and apply finance and treasury principles. Proficiency in accounting and strong Excel skills are also required.
