PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Triage RN promptly and accurately attends to parents’ concerns about their child’s health. Work with parents to devise a plan of action for a sick child.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Handle phone calls by screening and responding to the patients who are seeking medical information and/or medical attention. Direct calls to Provider as needed. Schedule appointments, as the patient’s condition requires, answer questions, and provide limited health education. Furnish medical advice per KPP triage protocols. Appropriately and accurately document all phone encounter information into the electronic medical record. Process medication refill requests received via phone and/or patient portal. Complete forms used for school physicals, sports, camp, etc. Responsible for meeting or exceeding expected productivity requirements. Committed to excellence, best practices, compassionate and superior customer service with every patient and co-worker. Maintain confidentiality of all patient information. Work with staff, physicians, and other health care providers to facilitate continuity and coordination of care for all patients in the KPP practice. Review incoming documents and medical records and decide and act upon next steps. Empower and educate families to make well-informed decisions and act as a guide to resources. Attend meetings as required. Contribute to upholding KPP Patient Center Medical Home Certification, requirements, and recertification. On occasion, may be responsible for teaching others or allowing students to shadow daily activities. Contributes to KPP social media outlets by commenting, sharing posts, or writing articles. Accountable for performing applicable research. Contributes to general housekeeping that demonstrates pride in the KPP practice and space. All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
RN Graduate of a Nursing Program is required. Completion of formal training from an accredited licensed vocational/practical program.EXPERIENCE:
NICU experience and triage experience preferred. Four years of clinical work experience in pediatrics.LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
A valid and currently active state Registered Nurse (RN) license. Certified BLS and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) desirableKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills. Ability to work courteously and respectfully with patients, parents, and co-workers. Proven dependability by consistently being at work on time, during scheduled hours. Follow instructions, respond to management direction, and solicit feedback to improve performance. Proficient with computer and software technology. Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Actively promote and personally observe safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly. Skilled in preparing and maintaining medical records. Ability to project a pleasant and professional image. Ability to deal with unique needs and personalities of patients and their parents. Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures. Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Travel between offices/covering at other offices may be required. Frequent exposures to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, possible blood borne pathogens and other condition common to a clinical environment. Varied activities including sitting, reaching, bending, sitting, pushing/pulling. Have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate an iPad, computer, photocopier/scanner, telephone, and other office equipment. Utilizes refined hand movements for physical examination of patients, and normal speech and hearing necessary for extensive conversation.OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
