Trial Technician 501 W Broadway, San Diego, CA 92101, USA Req #222 Thursday, February 13, 2025 Hourly Range: $25-40/hr Job Summary The Trial Support Specialist / Trial Technician plays a critical role in the litigation process, ensuring the seamless presentation of evidence and exhibits during court proceedings. This position requires a highly organized, tech-savvy professional who thrives in high-pressure environments and can deliver exceptional trial support services. Working closely with attorneys, paralegals, and legal teams, this role involves preparing trial exhibits, operating courtroom presentation software and equipment, and providing technical expertise throughout the trial lifecycle. The position requires frequent local travel within California and occasional nationwide travel for multi-week trials. Essential Responsibilities + Provide Hot Seat Support in court, utilizing trial presentation software (TrialDirector, OnCue, PowerPoint) to display exhibits, videos, and other demonstrative materials in real time. + Set up, test, and manage A/V equipment, including monitors, projectors, microphones, switches, and splitters, ensuring flawless courtroom presentations. + Collaborate with attorneys and legal teams to prepare, organize, and finalize trial exhibits and presentations. + Troubleshoot technical issues with software and hardware before and during trials, providing immediate solutions under tight deadlines. + Convert, edit, and prepare digital media (audio, video, images, and documents) for trial use, including on-the-fly video synchronization. + Assist with trial preparation, including creating trial notebooks, organizing exhibits, and maintaining trial calendars. + Handle scheduling and travel arrangements, processing reimbursements and managing due dates for concurrent trials. + Act as a liaison between legal teams, court staff, and external vendors to coordinate trial logistics. + Maintain professionalism and discretion in high-pressure courtroom environments. Required Qualifications & Skills + Technical Expertise: Proficiency in trial presentation software (TrialDirector, OnCue, PowerPoint) and strong troubleshooting skills. + Attention to Detail: Ability to manage, organize, and present evidence accurately. + Problem Solving: Quick thinking and adaptability in high-pressure situations. + Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with attorneys, court staff, and external vendors. + Professionalism: Maintain discretion and a client-focused approach in court and legal settings. + Travel Readiness: Must be able to travel locally and occasionally nationwide for multi-week trials. Minimum Education & Experience Requirements + High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications in legal studies, IT, or related fields is a plus. + Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in trial support, litigation support, or an IT help desk role. + Previous experience in a client-facing role, with a focus on professionalism and strong interpersonal skills. Physical Demands & Work Environment + Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of trial equipment, including monitors and projectors. + Extended periods of sitting or standing during trial sessions. + Frequent shifts in focus and multitasking under high-pressure conditions. + Must maintain professional courtroom attire (suit and tie for men; business suit, dress, or skirt/blouse for women). Travel Requirements + Local Travel: Frequent travel to courtrooms and trial locations within San Diego and surrounding areas. + Statewide & Nationwide Travel: Ability to travel throughout California and the U.S. for extended trial support. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for local travel.
