Tribal Liaison - Remote in Idaho

Growing together.** The Tribal Liaison builds partnerships, bridges communication and offers solutions through a culturally appropriate delivery system for Tribal Communities statewide. They work with Tribal partners and community providers to develop and facilitate health services that are culturally responsive. In addition, they work with internal teams within the Idaho market, particularly around topics of provider adequacy for the AI/AN managed care population, culturally appropriate care, coordination for members, adherence to Tribal sovereignty, appropriate protocols and regulations and collaboration on cultural humility. This is an Idaho based position. The role is located in Idaho, and you will have the flexibility to work remotely as you take on some tough challenges. This is a fast-paced working environment that requires the ability to multitask with attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. **Primary Responsibilities:** + Serve as the primary point of contact for Tribes (Shoshone-Bannock, Shoshone-Paiute, Coeur d’Alene, Kootenai, and Nez Perce) and various state agencies including Idaho Department of Health and Welfare involving the triaging and assisting with inquiries to internal departments + Provide external communication of UnitedHealthcare processes and operations, by facilitating meetings between Tribal Partners and internal staff and representing the company at meetings, forums and conferences (e.g., Hispanic/American Indian Healthcare Conference, Regional & Statewide Tribal, Individual Tribal) + Engage contracting and clinical operations in creation of Tribal/UHC agreements for delegation of care coordination, case management, transportation and varied services depending on tribal entity + Coordinate with internal Operations and Provider team (including Tribal Community Health Representatives) to maintain current and accurate I/T/U Facilities/providers loaded in system + Plan and work with provider services staff to expand and enhance physical and behavioral health services for AI/AN members + Serve as point of contact with Tribal entities and staff on AI/AN issues and concerns + Advocate for AI/AN enrollees with case management, utilization management and member services staff + Work with Tribal Partners to implement new and modified benefits or protocols for Indian Healthcare Providers (IHCP), coordinate education to clinical staff and members + Attend training on topics related to AI/AN health disparities, health care delivery systems, government-to-government relationships, federal and state laws and regulations, AI/AN contract provisions and matters specific to IHCPs + Interface with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare to represent UnitedHealthcare and advise on managed care initiatives regarding Tribal partners + Participate in internal Operational meetings and administration of Tribal providers and benefits You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. **Required Qualifications:** + 2+ years in Tribal community outreach, engagement, or social work experience + Demonstrated knowledge of Tribal communities, cultural background of Tribal communities, and Tribal sovereignty in Idaho + Tribal claims operations and I/T/U claims payment experience + Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) + Willing and able to travel 25-30% of the time to Tribal communities throughout Idaho + Ability to work Monday - Friday and flexibly outside core hours, including evenings and weekends, per business needs + Reside in Idaho **Preferred Qualifications:** + Experience with Medicare and/or Medicaid + Experience with managed care in a variety of health care settings + Experience working with state partners  + Experience working in a member facing role + Proven ability to speak one Idaho Native American spoken language *All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
