Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an exciting career opportunity for a Staff Airborne Systems Operator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in support of MQ-4C Triton program test and evaluation (T&E) activities as a Mission Payload Operator (MPO) and Tactical Coordinator (TACCO). This is a work onsite position, located at Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River, MD.

The Triton – MQ-4C ITT (Integrated Test Team) is seeking a candidate to fill a dual role of MPO and TACCO for the Triton unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) during developmental test and operational flights.

The selected candidate should have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. They must also be willing to work a flexible work schedule and travel up to 25% of the time. Flexible work schedules needed may include, but are not limited to, first or second shift, extended shifts, weekends, and holidays.  

  
Essential Functions may include, but are not limited to:

Remotely operate the vehicle mission system sensor suite to determine compliance with specification and operational suitability during engineering tests and flight test/demonstration support through specifically prescribed tests and mission profiles.Define, plan, organize, and execute complex flight profiles and flight test events in support of program milestones.Conduct briefings and debriefings, coordinate with maintenance personnel, engineers, and test directors to analyze and correct sensor suite discrepancies.Conduct demonstration flights with customers, government officials or other personnel to exhibit vehicle sensor suite performance, qualities, and capabilities.Conduct duties as Ground and flight safety official or Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPS) training manager as required.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Degree AND 14 years of qualifiable, related professional/military experience in a flight operations/flight test environment; OR Master of Science Degree AND 12 years of qualifiable, related professional/military experience in a flight operations/flight test environment; OR PhD in Science AND 9 years of qualifiable, related professional/military experience in a flight operations/flight test environmentMust have at least 10 years or more of Sensor Operator experienceDemonstrated experience with the responsibilities associated with a TACCO/SEVAL/Mission Commander, Non-Acoustic, EWOP, or SO in P-3/EP-3, P8, BAMSD or RQ-4 Global Hawk aircraftMust have previously passed a FAA Class II flight physical or Military flight physicalMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Top Secret and SCI clearance within a reasonable period, as defined by the company to meet its business needs.Must have an Interim DoD Top Secret clearance or higher with an investigation in the last 6 years to startMust be willing and able to fly on various shifts depending on the business needs including, 1st or 2nd shift.

Preferred Qualifications:

Test Pilot School graduateBachelor of Science Degree in Aviation or Aerospace Active DOD Top Secret clearance Minimum of 1000 hours weapon system/mission system experience including multi-function radar (SAR/ISAR/Surface search), ESM and EO/IR systemsPrevious experience as a TACCO/SEVAL/Mission Commander, Non-Acoustic, EWOP, or SO in P-3/EP-3, P8, BAMSD or RQ-4 Global hawk aircraftAdvanced user-level computer skills required within flight, simulator, and MS Office environments.Experience with technical research and the use of engineering data, electronic technical manuals, and tasking subject matter experts to lead complex projects from analysis to implementation utilizing established processes, development software, and team members.

Salary Range: $149,900.00 - $224,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
