Job Description
Our Commitment
Texas A&M University is committed to enriching the learning and working environ me nt by promoting a culture that respects all pers p ectives, talents & lived experience s . Embracing varying opinions and perspectives strengthens our corevalues which are: Respect, Excellence, Leadersh ip, Loyalty, Integrity, and Selfless Service .
Who We Are
The Depart me nt of Atmospheric Sciences at Texas A&M University researches the physical processes that influence and determine our climate as well as providing insight into how and why the climate changes. This is an enormous topic and covers spatial scales from atmospheric chemistry, aerosol particles, air pollution, cloud particles, with radii of microns, to large-scale atmospheric waves, with length scales of thousands of kilo me t e rs. Topics studied in the depart me nt include the physics of convection, climate variability, feedback physics, climate sensitivity, climate extre me s, and regional modeling . Variability and predictability of climate on seasonal to millennial ti me scales, coupled ocean-atmosphere interaction, large-scale dynamics of the atmosphere and the oceans.
What We Want
The Tropical Systems Group, led by Dr. Núñez Ocasio in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at Texas A&M University’s College of Arts & Sciences, invites applications for a self-motivated postdoctoral researcher to support and accelerate our research in tropical meteorology and km-scale atmospheric modeling ( https://sites.google.com/tamu.edu/nunez-ocasio (https://urldefense.com/v3/\_\_https:/sites.google.com/tamu.edu/nunez-ocasio\_\_;!!KwNVnqRv!Gb0Pn9j13vM5ul3e0ORLtld9\_oWTuNPG3QZxdDj5bTH5gICCmdLtuNe-Yhqr\_SOxcSkalytwcYJJ7VWaOu-1o4GVAilC5w4J$) ). The selected candidate will be expected to advance our efforts in studying high-impact tropical weather events. Key responsibilities will include conducting and analyzing convection-permitting simulations, as well as assisting with the downloading, management, and maintenance of datasets for ongoing and future projects. The researcher will also have the opportunity to help mentor graduate students. If the description sounds exciting to you, we invite you to apply to be considered for this opportunity to join our team.
