Truck Driver

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Keep all DOT daily logs and fuel records accurate and current Make sure all deliveries are on time and receipts are signed Inspect tractor and trailer & keep swept out Sweep/maintain clean dock & warehouse area Responsible for inspecting loads for quality as its being unloaded Assist with loading and unloads trucks Hand Tickets Provide updates to Shipping/Customer Service on deliveries Stretch wraps products Ensure all loads are strapped and properly secured Operates fork trucks to levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device. Weighs materials or products and records weight schedules. Loads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device Fills fuel tank or replaces liquefied gas tank Ensures all units are recorded on proper paperwork. Fills out pre-inspection forms Inspects bales for damage Use KIWI

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: Truck drivers require five (5) years previous driving experience and other skills, including strong knowledge of safety and DOT regulations, to be familiar with not just traffic laws but rules regarding rest, maximum miles driver, etc. Possess a clean driving record and agree to annual driving record. Physically fit and submit to medical exam every two years. Hand-eye coordination to coordinate hands, legs and eyes to maintain a fast reaction time Visual and hearing acuity, in accordance with federal regulations which mandates drivers are required to hear a forced whisper at 5 feet, have at least 20/40 vision, a 70-degree field of vision and the ability to distinguish the color of traffic lights.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Employee must be able to lift up to 70 pounds. This job requires some stooping, twisting and turning, repetitive wrist and hand motions including gripping. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employee must wear protective glasses, safety steel toed shoes, safety bump caps and use hearing protection as required.  Most of the work is road driving but with occasional work outside.  The plant and warehouse can be chilly in the winter (above freezing) and is hot in the summer (non air conditioned).  The plant is generally clean of debris and clutter, but the manufacturing process generates a fair amount of corrugated dust.  Position may require overtime including possible weekends.
