Truck Drivers Wanted for our Calpella Distribution Center - Class A required!  Starting Wage is $28.09 an hour. This position offers full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and 401K matching.

The Truck Driver drives truck and trailer to deliver products to customer locations in a safe and timely manner.  Ensures adherence to all company, DOT, state, and federal transportation safety regulations.  Maintains a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency while performing all duties.

Responsibilities

Drives truck and trailer to pick up and deliver assigned products, lumber, logs, residuals, etc. on time as required. Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skill in maneuvering vehicles at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather, or in tight loading/unloading areas.Abides by all Company, DOT, State and Federal transportation safety regulations.Ensures load is properly secured and weight is evenly distributed on trucks and trailers. Checks tie downs and tarpaulins to ensure load is secure.Inspects tractor, trailer and equipment for defects and safe operating condition before and after trips, and during stops throughout the workday. Submits a driver’s daily vehicle inspection report on the condition at the beginning and end of each day. Performs basic preventative maintenance to ensure fluid levels and tire pressures are maintained. Maintains records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations including driver’s logs, records of fuel purchases, mileage records, and other records required by law, or the company.Ensures that all shipping documentation (bills of landing, weight tickets, etc.) required to move with the shipment are available for inspection, that appropriate paperwork accompanies shipments when delivered, and that signed bills of lading for proof of delivery are turned into dispatch daily.Report all accidents/incidents involving driver or company equipment immediately after incident occurs to the Supervisor.Promptly report any delays due to breakdowns, weather, traffic conditions, or other emergencies. Report if there is more than a 30-minute delay in getting unloaded or loaded, or in the event of irregularities relating to pick up or delivery of cargo. Qualifications Completion of truck driving school with a minimum of one year of over the road experience; or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires Class "A" Driver’s License, current DOT physical examination card, and clean DMV record.Position requires travel outside the local area but usually within the state up to 75% of the time. Must maintain a valid Class “A” Driver’s License, current DOT physical examination card, and a clean DMB record throughout employment. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to sit and remain alert while driving for an aggregate period of up to 12 hours (intrastate).Must be able to shift a manual transmission and operate foot pedals; must be able to perform occasional squatting and crouching to handle and position freight; and enter and exit the vehicle’s cab 8 to 10 times a day or more.  Cab floor level is generally from 36 to 66 inches above ground level, with entry and exit achieved with the assistance of various configurations of steps and handholds.Requires occasional bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching and balancing. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of varying size and shape a distance of at least 1 foot but usually no more than 50 feet. Must be able to frequently reach freight at waist level and occasionally reach for freight above shoulder height or below waist level. Must be able to spend at least 40% of the day standing and 20% of the day walking on surfaces such as concrete, wood, dirt and metal, and sometimes on slippery and wet surfaces. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.Requires wearing leather gloves, safety shoes, safety glasses and a hard hat.Position travels outside the local area but usually within the state up to 75% of the time.
