TRUCK DRIVER OVER THE ROAD

Job Title: Truck/Class A Driver-OTR

The Job Details: We currently seek a Class A Driver covering the Northeast regional area operating 45’-53’ reefer trailers. Driver should expect to layover frequently throughout the week Monday-Friday.

 

·       Safely operate a tractor to transport goods from or to customer locations following all local, state, and federal guidelines.

·       Maintain the required license and follow DOT laws.

·       Demonstrate personal responsibility for, and ensure compliance with, all Safety, Health, Environment, Community, and Sustainability (SHECS) policies, procedures, and initiatives.

·       Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.

·       Follow appropriate safety and food safety procedures for transporting goods.

·       Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure.

·       Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.

·       Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.

·       Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.

·       Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.

·       Check conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.

·       Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.

·       Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, phones, and global positioning systems (GPS) equipment to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.

·       Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices.

·       Load or unload trucks or help others with loading or unloading, using special loading-related equipment or other equipment as necessary.

·       Follow special cargo-related procedures, such as checking refrigeration systems for frozen foods.

·       Cultivate well-trained workforce, including support of performance-management, and career-development

·       Maintain yard security in accordance with company requirements.

·       Work with the transport team to manage yard-based transport requirements and ensure load out rates are in accordance with company requirements.

·       Support and ensure team compliance with all Company policies, procedures, and initiatives

•        Travel Amount: 100%

What We Are Looking For:

 

Education

•        High School Degree/ GED Required

Experience

•      1-year minimum experience operating Class A vehicles; reefer experience preferred

•      Must have a clean MVR and provide an MVR upon request

•      Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal

•      Be able to read written English

•      Capable of following verbal and written instructions

•      Available to work various shifts and layover frequently.

·        Ability to lift overhead  

·        Bend and lift up to 70 lbs. on an occasional basis

·        Work longer hours as needed to satisfy customer and USCS daily and seasonal requirements 

·        Drive a registered motor vehicle to satisfy daily requirements  

·        Have acceptable and / or correctable vision
