Truck & Trailer Maintenance Technician

Keep Our Fleet Rolling Safely!As a Truck & Trailer Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the services, safety and repairs to all truck and trailer equipment in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, Commercial Vehicle Standards Association, and corporate standard practices. Led by the Manager, Fleet Maintenance and Safety, this position will best suit a strong team player that enjoys the challenge of troubleshooting, inspecting, diagnosing, and maintaining commercial equipment, trucks, and trailers.   Ready to make an impact? Here’s how:  Troubleshoot and inspect trucks and trailers using computerized and other testing methods to assess repair needs.Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems and adjust equipment to meet scheduled deadlines.Test repaired equipment to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications.Perform maintenance and mechanical services, including addressing vehicle defect reports and scheduled maintenance.Execute and document repairs and maintenance in alignment with the Preventative Maintenance schedule and the Highway Traffic Act.Clean, lubricate, and conduct routine maintenance on equipment, including service attachments and tools.Assist the Lead Hand and/or Supervisor as needed, including lockout procedures and defect updates.Follow Home Hardware communication protocols for equipment out of service and inform relevant parties, such as Supervisors, Truck Drivers, and Dispatch, about equipment availability.Participate in the on-call rotation to provide support as needed.Perform other shop-related duties as assigned, including providing vacation coverage when required.We’re looking for: 310T Trade Certification (Red Seal) or equivalent certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or Truck and Trailer Mechanic.Minimum of a Class G/5 driver’s license, with Air Brake Endorsement considered an asset.Basic knowledge of office computer programs.Ability to work independently while adhering to all Health and Safety procedures.Physical capability to perform the role, including standing, bending, crouching, and lifting up to 50 lbs. or more for prolonged periods.Completion of or active participation in an apprenticeship program, or equivalent work experience in the trade.A College Diploma in Automotive, Heavy Duty Mechanic, or Truck and Trailer Mechanic is preferred.Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and provide updates to stakeholders.How we’ll make you feel at HomeOur Team Members enjoy life at Home with our strong culture of support and inclusion, excellent benefits, and a team that always has your back.  You will receive:  Competitive earnings opportunity. Annual Incentive/Bonus Program. Comprehensive Benefits Program including: Health, Dental, Vision, Paramedical, Disability coverage, Out of Country Travel Insurance, Life Insurance, Employee Family Assistance Program. Defined Contribution Pension Plan with Company Match, and choice of contribution level. Group RRSP. Discounts from our corporate retail stores. Home & Auto Insurance discounts. Competitive vacation time.  Personal and sick time. Employee Discount Program through Venngo WorkPerks.Bring your unique skills, thrive with interesting and challenging work, and experience what it’s like at Home.
