Robert Half Legal Permanent Placement is seeking a highly skilled Trusts & Estates Attorney with expertise in taxation to serve as an Estate Settlement Attorney in Boston. This role is critical to supporting Trustees and clients by handling a wide range of complex legal and tax-related estate settlement functions. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of trusts, estate planning, investments, probate, and tax laws, accompanied by excellent communication skills and a client-centric approach. With significant exposure to trust and estate matters, this role demands integrity, discretion, and exceptional attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Manage comprehensive estate settlement tasks, including valuation, asset transfer, debt repayment, and probate estate inventories.
+ Prepare and review federal and state estate or inheritance tax returns, ensuring full compliance with tax laws and regulations.
+ Oversee probate accounting processes, collaborating with internal teams and external counsel for necessary filings.
+ Analyze and interpret estate tax planning documents, preparing comprehensive projections for Trustees and Fiduciary Services team members.
+ Work collaboratively on gift tax return processes, especially complex filings.
+ Develop and maintain systems for tracking estate settlement tasks and deadlines to ensure timely completion.
+ Communicate complex legal and tax concepts effectively to Trustees and clients, ensuring clarity and understanding.
+ Partner with various internal departments to deliver exceptional service while adhering to established procedures.
Requirements
Key Requirements:
+ JD with significant estate settlement experience in a law firm or investment office.
+ Active member of the Massachusetts Bar Association.
+ Minimum 7 years of relevant experience (10+ years preferred).
+ Advanced computer proficiency in MS Office, SunGard’s AddVantage, and CCH Axcess.
+ Exceptional communication skills and ability to simplify complex concepts for clients.
+ Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and problem-solving skills.
+ Positive attitude with a proactive work ethic.
