Responsible for assisting the tumor registrars in the compilation of demographic, clinical, and statistical data for oncology patients diagnosed and/or treated at Trinity Health in preparation for case abstraction. Prepares cases to ensure efficiency, organization and productivity of the Oncology Data Specialists (ODS). Facilitates patient follow-up process according to established program accreditation standards. Supports weekly tumor conferences in preparation and follow-up recommendations and communication.
This position is remote however, authorization to work in the USA without sponsorship is required.
GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:

Prepare cases to ensure efficiency, organization and productivity of the tumor registrars. Facilities patient follow-up processes according to established program accreditation standards. Supports weekly tumor conferences in participation and follow-up recommendations and communication.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High School diploma or equivalent. Post high school training or education preferred.
2. Basic understanding of medical record content and forms. Understanding of cancer related diagnosis and ICD-9/ICD-10 reportable codes.
3. Ability to prioritize work to ensure that tumor registrars and other key stakeholders have information to perform additional review and analysis; ability to multi-task and meet time limits.
4. Analytical skills to understand accreditation standards and the application of technical theory; analytical skills to identify errors and ensure efficiency with reporting and patient follow-up rates, utilizing various sources and means of data retrieval.
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Powerchart, Vista Plus and general office equipment.
6. Ability to interact successfully and maintain harmonious working relationships with physicians, departmental and hospital personnel.
7. Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.
8. 12 months providing administrative support in a cancer center, cancer registry or coding environment.
9. Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of CHE Trinity Health.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions of CHE Trinity Health.
2. Performs case finding on all inpatient and outpatient oncology patients identified within laboratory (pathology) reports, outpatient chemotherapy infusion center, radiation oncology and medical records Master Diagnostic index. Enters each oncology case using ICD coding into suspense system.
3. Collects pertinent data on oncology patients relating to the disease, treatment and follow-up, to effectively maintain a comprehensive picture of each patient.
4. Performs annual follow-up for every case in the registry to ensure accurate and complete data and history/status of each patient. Assists with additional communication (follow-up letters).
5. Assists with clerical duties for tumor board/CME documentation including preparation and communication of final recommendations from conference/meetings to ensure positive participant experience.
6. Ensures maintenance of accurate and complete files, including patient index, suspense file, accession register and follow up.
7. Assists with oncology program quality improvement projects and performs other related duties are assigned.
8. Supports and conducts oneself in a manner consistent with customer service expectations.
