Job Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct aerial surveys using UAS drones to collect high-resolution images, LiDAR data, and other geospatial data to create accurate 3D models of mining sites. Process and analyze survey data to create detailed maps, terrain models, and contour maps using specialized software tools such as Propeller. Measure and calculate the volume of stockpiled material, such as ore, waste, and overburden, using specialized software tools such as Propeller. Work with mining engineers and geologists to create detailed mine plans, designs, and layouts using CAD models and aerial survey data. Prepare mine plans and related documents for regulatory compliance and permit applications. Conduct field surveys and site inspections to verify the accuracy of survey data and provide technical expertise in the use of UAS drones and surveying equipment. Material inventory management including conducting audits and utilizing advanced excel skills for tracking and reporting accurate inventory levels. Stay up-to-date with new technologies and trends in UAS drone mapping, surveying, and mine planning.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in surveying, geomatics, mining engineering or a related field, or a combination of education and experience. Experience in using UAS drones and surveying equipment for aerial mapping and data collection. Knowledge of mine planning concepts, including geological mapping, mine design, and reserve estimation. Familiarity with mining regulations, safety standards, and environmental compliance requirements. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with other team members and stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

 

Physical Demands

This position requires working outside in any weather condition, walking, standing, bending, twisting, sitting, and lifting more than 50 lbs.
