Position Summary
Performs a wide range of technical work to support UAS (Uncrewed Aircraft Systems) operations. Conducts audits and inspections, verifies equipment needs, coordinates development and delivery of UAS-related training, monitors operations and trends, investigates incidents and accidents, and makes recommendations for improvement. Acts as the subject matter expert for UAS safety, operations, and procedures, while providing oversight of vendors and ensuring alignment with organizational and regulatory standards. Interfaces internally across various departments and externally as needed.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $102,000
Bay Area Maximum: $162,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $97,000
California Maximum: $154,000
Job Responsibilities
• Conduct both office and field audits of UAS operations to ensure compliance with established policies and safety standards.
• Verify equipment needs and review vendor capabilities to support UAS operations.
• Train and educate internal stakeholders on UAS procedures, emphasizing safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
• Oversee and coordinate vendor activities to ensure alignment with organizational goals and standards.
• Interface with internal departments, external vendors, contractors, and regulatory or government agencies.
• Act as the primary subject matter expert on UAS operations, providing guidance to crews, vendors, and leadership teams.
• Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives involving UAS applications and emerging technologies.
• Conduct detailed investigations of UAS-related incidents and accidents.
• Analyze findings, prepare reports, and make actionable recommendations for improvement.
• Review work plans and authorize UAS-related work.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and collaborate with stakeholders to develop new procedures, guidelines, and tools to enhance UAS safety and efficiency.
• Participate in organizational safety programs and conduct comprehensive safety inspections.
• Provide safety and operational support during emergencies, including working in the storm room or coordinating with state and federal agencies to ensure safe and effective UAS deployment.
• Lead special projects related to UAS operations, including the adoption of new technologies, implementation of process improvements, and expansion of UAS applications within the organization.
• In-depth knowledge of UAS operations, equipment, and safety standards.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to UAS.
• Experience with vendor oversight and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for incident investigations and operational improvements.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Qualifications
Minimum:
High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma 5 years job-related experience CA Class C License, or equivalent
Desired:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience Job-related experience, 8 years Infrared Thermographer certification Ability to travel up to 70 percent of working time
