Summary:

Responsible for assisting in the successful internal and external movement of product through the facility. Daily activities are assigned with input from the shift A-Operator. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor. 

 

Essential duties and responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duties satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below: 

Perform gauging duties and obtain temperatures on shore tanks. Figure stop gauges/top offs on moves and compare stop gauges/top offs with the Marine Dispatcher. Monitor all stop gauges/tops offs and communicate with operators, marine dispatchers, foreman and Dockmen to verify times that stop gauges/tops offs will occur. Have knowledge and skill to line up and safely operate offsite pipelines, SCADA system and bunker program. Have knowledge and skill to work in ATOMS program. Record all available information in ATOMS correctly. Complete all operational paperwork as required.  Understand and follow the contents in the SOP manual, emergency operating procedures, spill containment/clean up and all safety rules and regulations. Load/discharge tank trucks and rail cars as stated in the SOP manual. Perform dock watching duties as necessary. Understand and follow the contents of the “Letter of Alternative Compliances” issues by the HFOTCO and USCG. Video all barge/vessels docking and sailing. Survey Barge/Vessels prior and throughout movement to ensure enough mooring lines are being sued and are secure, hoses/slings are properly supported and adjusted, hose connections are not leaking, vessel/barge PIC stay onboard. Know, understand and perform computer operating procedures for emergency shutdown for dock valves, emergency pump shutdown system and pressure transmitters. Know, understand and perform camera operating procedures. Monitor dock pressures, barge/vessel mooring lines, roving Dockmen, tankermen. Notify Dockmen of barge/vessel traffic at docks so the Dockmen can witness any damage that may occur. Perform daily probe checks, weekly inventory, monthly roof checks, H2S checks and gauge tape verifications. Perform all other duties as needed or required by the shift supervisor.

Required education:

High school diploma or GED

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:  

Basic understanding of industrial operations and basic mathematical ability. Ability to read and comprehend Standard Operating Procedures, SDS sheets and other technical documents.  2+ years of experience in terminal operations preferred but not required. Must be available for on-call as scheduled  Must have a valid Driver’s license Must be able to obtain a TWIC card

Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally. Driving, walking, standing frequently. Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting
Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
