Job Summary
Building the future at UFP through Venture Capital Investment and Internal Organic Investments. This includes strategy development, market analysis, investment committee, due diligence, financial modeling, and working with portfolio companies. Executing the ventures strategy for UFP from creating financial models (including financial returns) and generating standard financial reports to generating ad hoc financial analysis to support current and potential investments from early diligence through exit (external, M&A, or new business line). Capable of supporting development of and sustaining best practices for investment, diligence and portfolio management processes. This person must be an ambitious self-starter, strong team player, inspiring and collaborative with excellent relationship-building skills, gritty and resilient, demonstrating a fact-based structured approach with high sense of urgency and ability to see the “big picture”.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Build financial models, to assess valuation and forecast financial returns
Support the deal flow process to progress deals through the pipeline
Develop a market analysis for potential opportunity areas
Financial Due Diligence supporting the UFP investment process, finding market comps, supporting deal execution, and coordinating processes with the UFP financial department
Managing the investment committee workflow
Identify opportunities for, generate recommendations for and play an important role in the execution of continuous improvement initiative for the UFP Ventures team
Identify trends within the portfolio company performance though financial review, standardized report development, and ad hoc financial analysis
Investment Support and Research: Analyze industry and market trends for opportunity areas
Due Diligence Support: Collaborate with Ventures team on due diligence process
Portfolio Tracking and Insights: Collect, curate, and analyze financial data and KPIs across investments
Ensure successful exit of ventures and return of UFP fund
Qualifications
Education: BA in Business, Finance, Bachelor of Science or Engineering or related technical science a plus. English language fluency is mandatory. Other languages are desirable. MBA a plus.
Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in ventures, M&A, financial analysis, strategy, commercial, sales, business, innovation, or entrepreneur.
Technical, Commercial, and Sales expertise. Experience in Construction, Venture Investing, M&A, Financial Modeling, Valuation, Strategy is a plus.
Innovation, Ventures, and Development Strategies. Understanding of the principles and application of Innovation & Development strategies and approaches (Gating, Design Thinking, Seed Launch Grow).
