Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy Transmission is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented UI Financial Analyst II to join our dynamic Business Management UI team. The ideal candidate will be computer-savvy with a keen understanding of financial forecasting and a knack for learning new technologies. As a UI Financial Analyst II, you will leverage your process-oriented thinking and drive for standardization to support our financial operations and strategy.

The Business Management team in NextEra Energy Transmission uses specialized software (Utilities International or UI) to produce financial forecasts for its regulated entities. The main role of this position is to support all activities associated with running and maintaining the software, as well as assisting end-users in their day-to-day efforts to update inputs and produce a reliable forecast. Documenting processes, producing job aids, tracking task execution and other related activities are amongst the key functions of the position.

 

Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis and Reporting: Conduct thorough financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and forecast model reconciliations to provide insight into forecast financial soundness. Exhibit curiosity and initiative in analyzing financial statements, ensuring update requests by the business are completed accurately and reliably. Technical Proficiency: Utilize the UI software and tools to enhance data accuracy and streamline processes. Demonstrate ability to operate in financial systems and the skill to learn to configure and optimize these systems. Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in financial processes and develop standardized procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Business Management colleagues to gather necessary financial information, provide financial insights, and support business decisions. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the configuration needed for preparation of budgets and long-term financial forecasts, analyzing trends and variances to inform strategic planning. Ad-Hoc Analysis: Support the preparation of ad-hoc financial reports and analyses to senior management as required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field; CPA or CFA designation preferred. Proven experience as a Financial Analyst or similar role, preferably within the energy sector. Strong proficiency with financial software, SAP/BPC, ERP systems, Utilities International (UI), and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to understand and configure software systems. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a process-oriented mindset. Strong initiative and curiosity in financial statement analysis. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Job Overview

Employees in this role supports Senior Management decision making via financial modeling, including but not limited to, revenue requirement and customer bill impacts, discounted cash flow analysis and financial statement modeling.  This position identifies and conducts moderately complex analyses of financial impacts of issues and/or decisions facing the company and proposes strategies to maximize financial performance of company.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•   Identifies, analyzes, and communicates to management the impact on the Company's financial structure, profitability, financial integrity, and competitive position utilizing relevant analytical methods and/or department’s forecasting models
•   Provides financial analysis support for various projects, calculating revenue requirements, net present value, customer bill impact, etc.
•   Provides expertise, support, and financial training for the company departments requiring these services
•   Performs financial analyses as required by management or regulatory bodies
•   Prepares PowerPoint presentations to be provided to Senior and Executive Management 
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  High School Grad / GED
•  Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
•  Experience: 1+ years
