JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The role will comprise the following: + Working within a team of developers responsible for several web applications across our global health and benefits business. Successful candidates will need to have an uncompromising focus on first time quality and be able to write User Interfaces which are stylistically robust, while affording flexibility. + Candidates will need to think laterally, across the applications they are building to ensure that they fully capture the impact of changes to shared components before implementing them, and that they have a solid grasp of when something can be re-used vs when something new needs to be written. + Strong problem-solving skills will be required in many areas of our application, not least how to accommodate specific stylistic themes for certain products in a way which can be properly isolated and contained, therefore a strong understanding of CSS selector specificity is critical for this role. + Above all else an exemplary level of attention to detail and care for quality work will be required for this role. SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED + BE/Graduate degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience. + Good level of experience in Angular 15 and up. + 6+ years of experience in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with a deep understanding of creating web accessible code. + Extensive experience with the SASS (CSS preprocessor), well versed and capable in the use of variables, mixins and ‘DRY’ development patterns which SASS affords. + Extensive experience with ARIA roles and attributes along with use of WCAG 2.1 and above guidelines and accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, Lighthouse) + Knowledge of assistive technologies (screen readers, voice control software) and their interaction with Web applications. + Good level of experience of the Bootstrap 5, demonstrable capability in understanding the Bootstrap grid system as well as the utility classes it provides for flexbox, alignment and controlling display at different viewport breakpoint sizes. + Comprehensive understanding of responsive UI design techniques, how to leverage Bootstrap CSS capabilities and when to utilise different HTML templates for each breakpoint to better achieve maintainability of code. + Excellent understanding of flexbox, how to align elements within a row or column consistently and with minimal mark up. + Demonstrable evidence of experience in organising a large amount of CSS files in a way which optimises re-use of declared component level styles across an application. + Knowledge of performance optimization techniques HOW WE SUPPORT OUR COLLEAGUES In addition to our comprehensive benefits package, we are proud to be an equal opportunity workforce.
