What is the role?

The Global Relay Graduate Engineering Program is a two-year development programme designed to rapidly develop talented individuals looking to build their careers as future leaders within a global business. The Program is designed to cultivate top engineering talent and equip graduates with a comprehensive understanding of our operations, products, and methodologies. Through a rotational structure across multiple engineering teams (development, automated testing and DevOps), graduates will gain invaluable hands-on experience, foster a deep understanding of our engineering ecosystem and ultimately, contribute to building world-class products to service our customers. 

As part of the programme the graduate will:
●    Develop proficiency in various programming languages, tools, and frameworks through hands-on experience and structured training
●    Cultivate commercial awareness by providing opportunities to engage with sales and marketing teams, gaining insights into market dynamics, customer needs, and product positioning
●    Tackle real-world technical challenges and propose innovative solutions
●    Foster collaboration and communication skills by exposing participants to cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, design, DevOps, sales, and more
●    Nurture leadership potential through mentorship, coaching, and opportunities for graduates to lead projects and initiatives within the organization

Can I apply?

Global Relay are looking for graduates who can develop a pride and passion for the brand, display a can-do attitude and take a hands-on approach. 

To apply for this role, you will need to be:
●    A recent graduate with a degree in STEM or software engineering related degree (or Business/Engineering degree with programming modules) with a 2:1 or above
●    Problem solver with analytical mindset
●    Strong appetite to learn and proactiveness to get things done 
●    Ability to understand the bigger picture 
●    Confident communicator and relationship builder
●    Comfortable with pair programming and collaboration

Skills essential for the role:
●    Experience of any programming / scripting languages essential – Java Script / Java / C# / Python / Kotlin / Swift advantageous 

Skills that will give you an advantage:
•    Experiences with Git based version control systems
•    Familiarity with any flavour of Linux
•    Understanding of Containerisation such as Docker
•    Understanding of high-level networking concepts 
•    Familiarity with automated testing frameworks, TDD and unit testing
•    Experience in system design / application design
•    Experience in relational / noSQL databases
