The Opportunity
The purpose of a Business Partner role in the UKIMEA Marketing and Communications team is to act as a senior generalist marketing communications advisor to the region’s Market, Services and Transformation Portfolios and Geography leaders. The individual will be a member of the team’s Senior Leadership Team and will be aligned to the Advisory, Digital and Technical Specialist Services (Service/Transformation portfolio)
The Business Partner’s will be positioning, marketing and communications activities to support work winning and reputation management and acts as a subject matter consultant in marketing, communications (internal and external), public affairs and graphics disciplines.
The Business Partner will ensure that Arup’s UKIMEA services are marketed and communicated holistically to the external market and not as we are organised internally. For example, the BP in a market facing portfolio will be accountable for working with transformation and services portfolio business partners to ensure all activities relevant to their particular market are integrated and form part of an holistic marketing plan.
The business partner for services and transformation portfolios is accountable for working in partnership with the market facing business partners to ensure that the services in their respective portfolios are integrated into a holistic plan for the market they serve.
As the business partner, you will develop a strong understanding of the business goals and the wider market/commercial context of your respective area and cultivate productive relationships with the leadership team. This will enable you to provide strategic advice on how best to apply marketing, communications, public affairs and graphics disciplines to enable business goals. Working with the heads of marketing, communications, public affairs and visual communications, you will agree an annual plan designed to achieve Arup’s business goals and be responsible for achieving the desired outcomes. You will also manage and triage ad hoc and reactive requirements from the relevant portfolio/geography.
As the primary conduit between the relevant Portfolio/Geography and the professionals within the Operations team, you will represent the Portfolio/Geography to the wider marketing and communications team, while in parallel representing and role-modelling excellence in marketing and communications to the business.

Is this role right for you?
We are looking for people who:
Have a strategic mindset, strong leadership and experience of leading large teams in a complex environment. Have senior professional skills in marketing, communications (internal and external), public affairs and graphics disciplines. Have previous experience of operating as a business partner in a large engineering, design, construction, utilities or services organisation, coupled with domain knowledge in the sectors and markets in which Arup’s UKIMEA region operates. Have senior marketing and communications experience, supported by a relevant professional qualification (CIM/CIPR) with strong demonstration of the successful tactical delivery of marketing and communications plans and/or strategies, including the creation of thought leadership-focused content and events.
