The Ultrasonographer performs diagnostic OB/GYN, abdominal and other ultrasound exams. Completes exam analysis and preparation for Radiologist’s review and interpretation. Ultrasound staff are required to provide on-call coverage after hours during weekdays, weekends, and holidays. This is rotated equally amongst sonographers.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEFor positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: High school graduate or equivalent with successful completion of an Ultrasound internship or formal training program or possess an Ultrasound Credential from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) accrediting bodies.
Preferred/Optional: Associate's degree in a related field and a graduate of a CAAHEP accredited sonography program.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSESThe following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required:
ARDMS in at least one of the following areas or (or registry eligible) in the areas of abdomen, obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN), or vascular technology (RVT) for registry eligible, one must be completed within 9 months of employment.ARDMS Certification in Abdomen and OB/GYN must also be completed within 24 months of hire.If working in a department performing breast ultrasound, you must complete American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Breast certification or ARRT Breast Sonography (BS) credential within 24 months of hire.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association and Red Cross within three months’ of employment.Preferred/Optional:
