This is an outstanding, specialized group that works closely together.  Focus on maternal fetal medicine, fetal surgery, general radiology ultrasound, and transplants.  NICU experience can be nice, but not required.

This position is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound exams which aid radiologists and providers in their diagnosis and/or treatment of patients. This position also assists providers in various ultrasound-guided procedures. This position provides direct patient care and may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.

Responsibilities Ensures the appropriate exam is performed based on physician's orders and patient history.Verifies and enters/selects patient demographics.Provides accurate and consistent patient education and explanation of exam.Performs ultrasound examinations, tailoring exams based upon findings and most likely diagnosis.Updates patient logs and submit billing.Ensures operation of equipment and coordinates necessary maintenance.Assists with training of student sonographers, residents, and fellows.Assists physicians with invasive procedures.Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesAbility to perform the essential functions as outlined above.Ability to provide care to the population served.Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures.Demonstrate human relations and effective communication skills. Qualifications QualificationsLicenses RequiredCurrent RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.One of the followingCurrent certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with an Abdomen specialty (RDMS-AB) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).Current certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with an OB/GYN specialty (OB/GYN) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).Current ARRT Registration for Sonography (S).
