Job Summary

Under the direct and indirect supervision of the Physician, provides fetal and maternal imaging. Facilitates continuity of quality care by interfacing with physician and nursing staff. Ensures the effective and efficient delivery of quality diagnostic imaging and reporting for the patients’ medical record and treatment plan. Maintains appropriate quality control records and participates in routine equipment testing. Assists physicians in amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, and other ultrasound guided 
procedures and performs ultrasound imaging for high risk indications.
 

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: Completion of RDMS program
Minimum Years of Experience: 5 years performing OB/GYN ultrasound scans
Substitutable Education & Experience: Fetal Nuchal Translucency (NT) certification and 3 years experience performing OB/GYN ultrasound scans.
Required Certifications/Licensure: RDMS certification, BLS Certification or certification within 3 months of employment. Fetal Nuchal Translucency certification or successful completion of the certification within one year of hire.
Required Training: None

Essential Functions Reviews physician orders and instructions concerning patient preparation for ultrasound procedure. Performs requested sonographic examinations as ordered by physician. Communicates with OBGYN clinical team and providers status of patient condition pre and post procedure. Performs ultrasound imaging for fetal diagnosis and anomaly detection for patients with high risk indications, including, but not limited to, detailed fetal surveys, fetal echocardiograms, fetal doppler studies, nuchal transluceny, etc. Assists physicians in amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, and other ultrasound guided procedures.  Performs ultrasound studies for diagnosis including but not limited to assessment of fetal growth, development and age, and evaluation of fetal anomalies. Reviews images, documents procedure performed, inputs findings into electronic health records system, and sends to physician for evaluation. Performs duties as required to ensure efficient and effective service to patients.  Duties & Responsibilities Assumes responsibility for the safety and well-being of all patients in the sonographic area.  Addresses problems of patient care as they arise and makes decisions to appropriately resolve the issue at hand. Monitors equipment and reports equipment failure to the appropriate person. Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area. Determines ultrasound supply needs and forwards orders to appropriate person. Assists with administrative duties as requested. Participates in orientation and obstetrical imaging check offs of new OBGYN department ultrasound employees. Performs all other duties as assigned.
