Ultrasound Tech
Job Details:

Job Summary:

The Ultrasound Technologist performs routine, advanced and biopsy ultrasound procedures. The technologist also maintains the cleanliness and ensures proper operation of the equipment, stocks clinical supplies, performs quality assurance/continuous quality improvement functions and utilizes the department RIS/PACS systems to manage patient’s images, records and files.

Responsibilities:

Requires thorough knowledge of the techniques of ultrasound and good knowledge of ultrasound and related equipment. Requires good knowledge of human anatomy. Requires good knowledge of the Radiology Information Systems and PACS to keep accurate patient records. Requires the ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions. Administers imaging tests and treatments as prescribed by clinical providers using protocols to produce acceptable quality radiology images; Positions and instructs patients in preparation for taking Ultrasound images; Makes adjustments to ultrasound equipment to correct settings for each examination. Assists clinical providers with various procedures, treatments, and surgical techniques as directed. Troubleshoots Ultrasound equipment and systems as needed. Tracks and secures supplies according to departmental guidelines; Follows department guidelines to correctly identify patient, and enter patient information into imaging systems; Properly images cases and archives to PACS, also utilizes the Radiology Information Systems to keep accurate patient records; Ability to write preliminary reports after scanning, completing worksheets in a neat, legible and specific format. Assures that the working environment is clean and in compliance with regulatory agencies. Assists in orientation and training of new staff as requested and serves as a resource person and professional role model. Performs other functions as required. Other related duties as assigned Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience:

Must have two years of experience (pre- or post-certification) where the primary function was performing diagnostic work using ultrasound equipment.

Education:

Graduate of an approved Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs School of Ultrasound is required.

Licenses / Certifications:

Licensed by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

Other:

Special Requirements: Must maintain the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Ultrasound Technologist.
