Ultrasound Technician
The Ultrasound Technician performs a variety of specialized technical tasks utilizing high frequency ultrasound waves to assist with the detection of medical conditions or abnormalities by producing images of the inside of a patient’s body. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Performs a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizing ultrasonic high-frequency sound waves to detect but not limited to abnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones + Assists physicians with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsy instruments using sonographic techniques + Utilizes accessory equipment such as transducers, multi-format cameras, printers, and PACS workstations + Prepares patients for procedures and explains procedures to patients + Reports changes in patient condition to medical staff + Provides an oral and written summary of preliminary findings to the radiologist + Evaluates the quality of sonograms and determines if additional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated + Maintains patient records following facility policy and procedure + Performs ultrasound procedures, doppler vascular examinations, abdominal studies and colorflow ultrasound, OB-GYN procedures as required + Collaborates in quality control of equipment and filming and obtains service as required + Proficient in the performance of ultrasound procedures + Performs other duties as assigned/necessary Minimum Requirements: + A certification from an accredited ultrasound school + One year of experience as an ultrasound technician preferred. + Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice + Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable + Current CPR if applicable + TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable + Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) + Must meet all federal, state and local requirements + Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site + Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements + Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required + Computer proficiency required + Must be at least 18 years of age Benefits At Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits: + Competitive pay & weekly paychecks + Health, dental, vision, and life insurance + 401(k) savings plan + Awards and recognition programs *Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.
