Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative competencies

Facilitate department operations through completion of all associates paperwork

Maintains adequate supply stock in all related areas; notifies appropriate personnel of the need to reorder supplies and assists with the distribution of supplies; the designated personnel orders stock in a timely and appropriate fashion with special attention to budget considerations

 Insures a safe and clean environment

Participates in a timely and equitable work distribution

Assists all personnel in answering phones, scheduling amniocenteses, faxing/mailing reports to physicians’ offices and other clerical duties

Participates in health fairs, marketing events, etc.

Verifies all exam orders and necessary forms/consents to be signed prior to initiation of exams

Performs other related duties as assigned

Technical competencies

Performs ultrasound studies of acceptable technical quality to include Ob/Gyn and abdominal/small parts, and 2D &3D Mammography. Ensures patient safety in performance of position responsibility

Provide assistance and maintains patient flow which includes check in, dressing patients and discharging patients

Responsible for film and other supplies; maintain laser printer

Possesses current knowledge of the ultrasound procedures performed in the department

Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology required for applying principles of ultrasound physics to obtain defined studies

Possesses basic knowledge of ultrasound equipment functioning to provide minor repairs and trouble-shooting for problems

Possesses knowledge of sterile technique and its application in the invasive procedures performed in the department

Proficient in sterilization and maintenance of all ultrasound equipment

Utilizes communication skills with patients, doctors and personnel; communicates with physicians regarding exam results

Utilizes appropriate body mechanics in moving/lifting patients and equipment to prevent injury to patient and self

Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide ultrasound services to patients served in relation to growth and development over the lifespan to identify their requirements relative to age-specific needs

Follows through with routers, coding and charging the patients with completed paperwork

Demonstrates ability to follow established infection; utilizes standard caution at all times; adheres to the blood borne pathogen regulations as established by OSHA

Turns off ultrasound equipment, laser printer and computers at the end of the day

Interactive competencies

Basic actions on sound judgment in a variety of changing situations

Maintains own proficiency through utilization of workshops, seminars and other self-directed learning activities

Maintains awareness of own limitations and seeks guidance from the appropriate corrective actions initiated

Actively participates in group meetings and performs improvement activities with a focus on providing input regarding improving the quality of patient care services in the department

Ensures that problems/concerns regarding activities in the department are communicated with appropriate personnel

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited radiography program and currently registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)

EDUCATION

High School Diploma 

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE

Current certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers (RDMS)

Current Texas Department of Health License

The hourly rate for this role is competitive, ranging from $36 to $40 per hour. Final compensation will be based on a comprehensive assessment of your qualifications, including years of experience, educational background, and location.
