The Ultrasound Technician performs a variety of specializedtechnical tasks utilizing high frequency ultrasound waves to assist with thedetection of medical conditions or abnormalities by producing images of theinside of a patient’s body.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizingultrasonic high-frequency sound waves to detect but not limited toabnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones Assists physicians with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsyinstruments using sonographic techniques Utilizes accessory equipment such as transducers,multi-format cameras, printers, and PACS workstations Prepares patients for procedures and explains procedures topatients Reports changes in patient condition to medical staff Provides an oral and written summary of preliminary findingsto the radiologist Evaluates the quality of sonograms and determines ifadditional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated Maintains patient records following facility policy andprocedure Performs ultrasound procedures, doppler vascularexaminations, abdominal studies and colorflow ultrasound, OB-GYN procedures asrequired Collaborates in quality control of equipment and filming andobtains service as required Proficient in the performance of ultrasound procedures Performs other duties as assigned/necessaryMinimum Requirements:
A certification from an accredited ultrasound school One year of experience as an ultrasound technicianpreferred.
