Rotate between CBMC, CEH, CBOC. + Holiday Requirements: Rotation Email a Friend Save Save Apply Now Position Summary: To perform routine and specialized examinations in Ultrasound; adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results; prepare patients for examinations. This requires independent judgment to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist. Qualifications: EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Associate's Degree in Ultrasound or related field OR Certificate in Radiologic Technology CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Abdomen (AB), OB/GYNE (OB), Breast (BR), Fetal Echo (FE), Neurosonology (NE), or Peds Sono (PS) within 6 months BLS within 30 days of hire EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS New Gradates will be considered ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS + Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. + Work may occasionally require travel to other facilities SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Basic reading, writing, oral English skills AccountabilityMulticultural sensitivityCustomer/patient focusedBasic computer knowledgeCritical thinking skills using independent judgement in making decisionsAbility to respond appropriately to customer/co-workerInteraction with a wide variety of peopleMaintain confidential informationAbility to communicate only the facts to recipients or to decline to reveal informationAbility to project a professional, friendly, helpful demeanor Essential Functions: + Ensures accurate and complete patient examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging + Exhibits competency in performing ultrasound procedures + Images required views demonstrating appropriate anatomy and pathology + Knowledgeable of catheters, biopsy instruments and sterile trays and prepares these items as necessary + Obtains accurate histories and explains rationale for procedure to patients/families + Enhances image quality through the use of appropriate transducers and machine settings + Evaluates the finished images to ensure diagnostic exams are being submitted to the radiologists + Maintains quality care throughout the procedure + Assess the abdominal arterial & venous system using color imaging + Maintains working knowledge of equipment in order to function in all areas of ultrasound. + All ultrasound equipment within the Medical Imaging Ultrasound department + Technically knowledgeable of equipment operation including hardware and software + Performs reasonable trouble shooting + Reports equipment problems through appropriate channels & documents on board for all staff notification + Maintains clean work area, checks and stocks all supplies in their specific area + Verifies pertinent accessories assigned to rooms + Reports equipment problems through appropriate channels + Able to document area of concern + Set up trays with sterile field for radiologist + Assists radiologist with biopsy + Orders labs and pathology tests under the direction of a radiologist + Performs support functions of the Medical Imaging department + Ensure patient expectations and needs are met + Assumes personal responsibility for training fellow technologists/students. + Promptly processes images and paperwork to ensure timely turn around in providing a report to the physician's office + Fills out all appropriate paperwork to facilitate timely and accurate reporting + Maintains and coordinates patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care + Promptly and accurately enters patient information into HIS system to ensure efficient patient throughput + Shares knowledge and guides fellow technologists/students with proper department protocol and procedures + Displays a professional attitude in the area toward fellow technologists/students + Fosters mutual respect and creating productive learning environment We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
