CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. Job Summary / Purpose:
Provides technical expertise in Ultrasound procedures in accordance with the mission and philosophy of CHI St Alexius Health
Essential Key Job ResponsibilitiesPerforms appropriate ultrasound procedures and records anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological date for Radiologist interpretationAssist physician in gathering sonographic data necessary to diagnose a variety of conditions and diseases.Obtains, reviews, and uses pertinent patient medical history and supporting clinical data to facilitate optimum diagnostic resultsProvides patient education related to medical ultrasoundRecords and processes sonographic dataProvides patient services in a variety of medical settingsPerforms quality assurance checks on equipment, ensuring proper safety standards are met.Assist Radiologist during interventional procedures which include biopsies, drainages, aspiration, paracentesis and thoracentesis procedures.Set up of sterile tray and sterile field and their maintenance.Provides assistance to the Radiology Nurse with post procedure patient care including bandages and dressings, chest tube equipment, wall suction, and drain reservoirsMaintains accurate patient records for all procedures performed, maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to all HIPAA standards. Applies charges and supplies as neededMonitors assigned inventory expiration dates and levels. Makes sure exam rooms are properly supplied with equipment and materials. Qualifications
Required Education for Staff Job Levels
Graduate of an approved school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Must achieve US registration within 1 year of hire date
Required Minimum Experience
Clinical experience as obtained during schooling for Sonography
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Competent in performing US exams. Data entry and analysis. Computer and clerical skills. Effective communication skills
PREFERRED Education and/or Experience
Basic Life Support Certification (CPR- Healthcare Provider) within 480 hours of employment and meets re-certification as required.
Licensure: required by the state of North Dakota
Preference for one year clinical experience in Obstetric, gynecologic, abdomen, neonatal neurologic and small parts sonography.
Must obtain US registration within 1 year of hire date
