A Brief Overview:
The Ultrasound Technologist will be reporting to the Manager of Fetal Diagnostics and under the technical direction of the Center for Maternal and Fetal Health (CMFH) physicians, this position is responsible for supervision and performance of diagnostic procedures requiring sound understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology so that independent selection and modification of technical factors may produce optimal results. Capable of performing independently all ultrasound procedures in the Center for Maternal and Fetal Health. Able to interpret the ultrasounds accurately. Performs a variety of technical, supervisory, and administrative duties that will require independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative including quality assurance of services and equipment maintenance at all sites.

Committee.Deal discreetly with large amounts of sensitive, confidential information concerning professional conduct and performance with patients and/or fellow employees.Maintains a positive supportive work environment with co-workers.Answers phones with proper etiquette.Recognizes when others are in need of assistance and consistently offers to help when own workload permits or find someone who can.Demonstrates willingness to provide the highest quality service appropriate to this position, based on the concept and philosophy of continuous quality improvement.Assists in training of new secretarial personnel.Plan, organize and direct activities of assigned technical and ancillary areas. .In conjunction with Manager and Admin. Asst., prepare staff schedule, maintain record of work history and maintain hours per employee via Kronos Time Record. Approve time off according to department policy.Monitor and ensure quality of images and care rendered to patients. Ensure compliance with hospital safety regulations in assigned areas. Ensures AIUM standards for ongoing certification are met.Monitor prompt faxing of reports to physicians.Identify electrical and mechanical equipment malfunctions. Notify appropriate persons for necessary service. Collaborate with equipment vendors and Biomedical Engineering for quality control and preventative maintenance repairs. Maintains log of all machines with identifiers.In conjunction with Admin. Asst., maintain adequate stock of departmental supplies. Notify Manager of needs requiring budgetary approval.Remain abreast of equipment and procedure advances in OB ultrasound. Work with MFM physicians to incorporate new developments into the operation of the department.Coordinate and assist in the development of education programs and evaluation of learning with local colleges.Facilitate medical students and residents during their OB rotations.Participate in the hiring, evaluation process, and disciplinary actions of ultrasound technologists in department.In collaboration with the FDC Manager, visits off sites to ensure quality control and assists in communication and fostering relationships with offsite coordinators and the offsite management resource.Resolves service excellence issues and documents outcomes.ARDMS Eligible or Certification; CPR certificationAble to competently perform all US procedures.Positions patientEducates patient about procedure.Modifies technique as necessary.Documents procedureInterprets ultrasound and reports findings in a timely manner to MFM and referring physician.Confirms order/diagnosis, places charge and documents appropriately in EPIC.Check in patient and collect co-pay and insurance information as directed at offsite facilities.ADRMS Certification required.Assumes responsibility of lead ultrasound tech, mentoring and directing staff to maintain patient flow, monitors quality assurance of procedures, report breakdown and processing, and order/charge entry.As lead technician, demonstrates commitment to representing NorthShore and CMFH in a highly professional manner, displaying positive attitude and teamwork behaviors.Frequent and ongoing communication with RN for patient status, activities and work completed.
What you will need:
High School General Studies RequiredCompletion of formal ultrasound program approved by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographics required.
And4 Years of experience as ultrasonographer in obstetrics. AndDemonstrated leadership and initiative. Excellent communication skills.Expert knowledge of OB ultrasound.Proficient in operating Siemens and GE ultrasound machines and KinetDx reporting and storage system.Registry license Required
