Unbilled Analyst
Job Details:

The Unbilled Analyst plays a key role in the Bon Secours Charity revenue cycle management process by monitoring and working unbilled accounts that are past the established coding/billing target goal. The unbilled work queue is the tool by which accounts are identified as outside the coding/billing target. This position assists with the Medical Staff notification and suspension process for each facility. The Unbilled Analyst facilitates the flow of missing medical record documentation to the coders to ensure charts/accounts are coded timely. The Unbilled Analyst serves as liaison to the Coding, Patient Access, ancillary departments, and the Central Business Office for routine problem resolution as it relates to the unbilled accounts.

Responsibilities: 

Creates daily reports of discharged patients on unbilled lists. Works these reports to ensure documentation required is received for proper coding and billing.Creates reports and communicate documentation requirements to physicians, physician practices, and ancillary departments for accurate and timely coding.Demonstrates attention to detail, strong motivation to validate data, thorough understanding of demographic information and how it is retained in the various hospital information system databases.Functions as a liaison with Coding, Patient Access, and the Central Business as appropriate to this position’s scope of responsibility to resolve issues as they relate to the unbilled process or to the demographic collection or correction of data in the MPI in an efficient and effective manner.Communicates with the Supervisor and/or HIMS Director of account(s) with concerns/problems that are impacting ability in meeting billing targets.Manages the unbilled accounts at or below target levels in an efficient, effective, and professional manner.Contacts physician offices two to three times per week (via phone/staff message in ConnectCare) for missing required documents and/or dictation for billing purposes and follow-up as needed.Attends all necessary unbilled meetings and telephone conferences upon request of the Supervisor and/or HIMS Director.Assists with the Medical Staff notification and suspension process for each facility and ensuring records are correct for suspension purposes and notifies and contacts physician’s offices of potential suspension.Answers the telephone, greeting, assisting customers and processing incoming mail.Performs release of information function on an as needed basis.Performs chart pick up function on an as needed basis.Assists with regulatory audits on an as needed basis.Verifies patient information in ConnectCare to ensure bills drop in a timely manner.Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience: One (1) year experience in a medical office setting preferred with knowledge and experience using computers and electronic medical records.

Education:  A high school diploma or equivalency is required.

Licenses / Certifications: N/A

Other: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
