Job Description

The Office of Chief Finance Officer is accountable for implementation and oversight of sound financial policies and procedures at the Lab; establishment and maintenance of proper financial system controls; administration of funds; compliance with federal requirements for financial systems management reporting and certifications; communication of resource requirements to external agencies, including preparation of budget submissions and other funding requests.  These responsibilities include the development of a financial strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to support internal control, DOE directives and reporting accurate financial results.  This Office contains three collaborative divisions: Financial Operations, Acquisition Services, and Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A).

The Financial Planning and Analysis Division is involved in driving the annual financial target-setting process, Annual Operating Plan, 3-year Indirect Rates, Standard Labor Rate Setting, maintaining the CAS Disclosure Statement, and delivering requirements for staffing, facilities, capital equipment and budgets for the lab’s planning processes; providing the critical link between the Directorate Leadership Team (DLT) strategy and financial planning. This group works to resolve financial matters, develop solutions to complex issues, utilizing their expertise in FAR, CAS, GAAP, FMH and applicable laws, regulations, principles, procedures, and practices related to Financial Management.

The Finance Planning and Analysis division has internship openings available, and we are considering undergraduate and graduate level candidates. The internship dates are tentatively planned for 03/2025 to 03/2025 with 10-15 hours per week during school, and opportunity to work full time during summer/school vacation.

Job duties will include:

Supporting ongoing financial, budgetary, planning and analysis functions.In consultation with mentors, perform independent analysis and processing of documents.Utilize and interpret data from several software systems including, but not limited to: Oracle E-Business Suite, SmartView, BI Reporting Tools, etc. Additionally, utilize Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) to accomplish duties.

Basic QualificationsMinimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

Undergraduate: Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor’s degree program from an accredited institution.
Post Undergraduate: Earned a bachelor’s degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year.

Graduate: Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a master’s degree program from an accredited institution.
Post Graduate: Earned a master’s degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year.
Graduate + PhD: Completed master’s degree and enrolled as PhD student from an accredited institution.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)Job Profile: / Annual Salary Range: $34,800 - $55,700
