Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) produces premium quality, hard coking coal for steelmaking, which is transported within Australia and around the world. We operate two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

 

This role is a Permanent full-time position based at the Dendrobium mine which is, near the coastal city of Wollongong, NSW, and approximately 75 kilometres south of Sydney. 

 

As the Undermanager, you will ensure the execution of the shift plan, while monitoring and coordinating statutory compliance with current mining legislation and the site Safety Management System.

 

You are the primary point of contact on shift and will have the statutory responsibilities. 

 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

 

Retain single point accountability for statutory compliance or internal safety management standards for the mine. Delivering the shift plan production and maintenance targets for the area. Responding to breakdowns in accordance with the escalation process. Encourage team members to drive effective hazard and risk identification, reporting and investigation to reduce incidents and injuries/illnesses.

 

ABOUT YOU 

 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

 

Exceptional safety leadership with an ability to identify and eliminate hazards in the workplace. Project and/or Study Management experience Understanding of planning/scheduling, change management and risk management. Demonstrated capability to successfully lead and influence others with multi-functional and diverse team. Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. You are a team player with a strong focus on teamwork.

 

Qualifications for this position are: 

 

Practice Certificate and Certificate of Competence to be an Undermanager at an underground coal mine.
