Underwater Inspection Group Manager

Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a talented and motivated Underwater Inspection Group Manager to continue to expand our portfolio of underwater engineering inspection services throughout the United States and internationally. This position could be located near any Stantec office in the US. You will have the opportunity to help grow a team that ensures the safety of a variety of marine structures in the US and around the world with a focus on transportation, including bridges, piers, seawalls, dams, intake, and outfall structures, etc. The safety of our employees is our number one priority, so we adhere to strictest standards when it comes to dive safety, following all ADCI and OSHA guidelines and requirements.


You will be managing a highly professional engineering dive group that provides consulting services to clients around the world. You will be responsible for managing discipline-specific professional and technical standards, quality assurance practices, health and safety, and best practices; and for attracting top technical expertise to the Underwater Inspection Group. You will also help Stantec grow this group by performing marketing, proposal development, and other business development activities, while also participating in underwater inspections, as needed. 

Your Key Responsibilities

Assist with site investigations as part of an inspection team Work collaboratively with all members of the engineering dive group Analyze deteriorated components; assess remaining capacities Solve engineering problems and challenges Partner with other professionals and departments to gather information for projects Assist in the preparation of plans, designs, calculations, and cost estimates Support preparing standard documents, such as technical specification and documentation, and engineering reports Responsible for the preparation of proposals, responses to RFP(s) and marketing and business development Assists Project Managers to ensure that the scope of work is fulfilled, and that the contracted deliverables go out on schedule and as budgeted Be an engaged leader, actively coach and support the career development of the engineering staff and take personal responsibility for employee retention and recruitment. Performs other duties, as required

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Exceptional leader demonstrating technical expertise and innovation, as well as knowledge and commitment to quality and professional standards  Demonstrate strengths, experience, and drive to: effectively lead, challenge, and inspire staff toward enhanced technical development, while promoting best practices and standards of quality Exceptional leadership, communication, collaboration, and team-building skills Experience as a commercial diver, including underwater inspections of bridges, piers, dams, wharves, docks, and bulkheads Ability to work effectively as part of a team Candidate who aspires to grow into a senior leadership position, incorporating project management responsibilities. Strong attention to detail Good planning, organizational and time management skills Ability and willingness to travel as required Familiarity with sound engineering and safe diving principles US Citizenship with valid passport preferred due to travelling demands of this position

 

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering PE registration NHI Courses 130055 and 130091 ADCI or equivalent Dive Certification, Dive Supervisor certification preferred Minimum 10 years previous related experience Direct experience working as a client liaison or PM on multiple projects Familiarity with sound engineering and safe diving principles Diver Certification Board of Canada (DCBC) certification a plus Experience in structural inspection/design, working with concrete, steel, masonry and timber with an understanding of the corresponding design Codes and Specifications

Additional Information Salary Range(s): Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s): Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in NYC/NY Min Pay Range: NYC $123,700/Outside NYC $98,200 Max Pay Range: NYC $147,300/Outside NYC $185,600 Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI Min Pay Range: $108,000 Max Pay Range: $162,000 Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA Min Pay Range: &115,900 Max Pay Range: $173,800 Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC) Min Pay Range: SF Area $108,000/CA Other Areas $123,700 Max Pay Range: SF Area $162,000/CA Other Areas $185,600 Note: The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
